TRUE LIFE: I Have a Parent in Prison

In True Life: I Have a Parent in Prison, we are going to explore the experiences of three young people who have a parent who is incarcerated.

Is one of your parents currently in prison? Do your friends know about your situation? Are you ashamed or embarrassed to tell new friends or love interests about your parent's incarceration? Are you planning to reunite with your mom or dad by visiting them in prison? Do you hope to form a relationship with a parent who has been in prison for most of your life?

Are you at a particularly challenging point in your life where not having your mom or dad around will be difficult? Are you facing a major challenge -- the birth of your first child? Starting a new job? -- Without your parent around to guide you? Will you be walking down the aisle at your wedding without your father there to give you away?

Is one of your parents about to be sentenced to a prison term? Will you be taking on new responsibilities in your household after your mom or dad leaves to begin their prison sentence?

Or... is one of your parents returning home after a long incarceration? How will your life change when you and your mom or dad are reunited at home?
