We are looking for individuals with good speaking ability to book for our audience on Monday at 8AM, and Tuesday at 8AM (do not need to participate in both, ONLY ONE). We would like you to ASK these exact Q's or nearly exact Q's to our expert, AND be prepared to ANSWER follow-up questions from him based on MARRIAGE/RELATIONSHIPS/or PARENTING. We do not necessarily expect you to be in these situations, merely to be able to think on your feet and answer whatever follow-up questions are thrown at you naturally. Please be LOCAL.
Here is a SAMPLE LIST of questions for Monday and Tuesday.
Audience questions
Here are a few examples of questions that would reflect the type of topics one might see on "Dr. Phil". I've divided them into three basic categories: Marriage, Parenting, Self. It would be optimal if the questions were asked by people who actually had some actual connection to the issue so we get a more sincere, emotional reaction and of course our expert will ask follow up questions, which don't come across as well if you aren't actually living the question.
Marriage
Q- after an argument, it seems to take us several days to get back to having an "intimate" relationship. The time it takes to get back to where we were before the argument is usually much longer than the argument itself. Any ways to shorten that recovery time?
Q- My husband watches a lot of porn and I wish he wouldn't. He says its totally normal, all couples do it and he calls me a prude. And he has made demands of me in the bedroom that I can't or don't want to do. I blame the porn for his unrealistic expectations of me but he just blames me. Help?
Q- I feel like my wife is a dream killer. I have this business I'm trying to get going and she just wants me to abandon it and get a "real job". I'm sick of her lack of support and it is the source of a lot of our arguments!
PARENTING
Q- I think I should have access to my daughters text messages, email and Facebook but she says I'm invading her privacy and I should trust her more. Am I too protective or justified?
Q- my son came home and asked for a larger allowance because some of his friends at school get much more than we give our kids. But he doesn't do much around the house to help out. How much is the right amount to give our kids?
Q- I am a realist. My husband is an optimist. He thinks we should not let our teens drink at all but I think we should allow to drink here in the safety of our own home. Keeps them off the road and we know where they are and who they are with. Which of us is right?
Q- my daughter says that when she walks down the hall at school, some boys will slap her on the butt and she just laughs it off by saying "it's no big deal" but I think it is. Am I old fashioned?
Q- my child is over-weight and every time I see her it makes me so angry at her. But I know it bothers her too. I've tried to talk to her but it doesn't seem to be working. Lately I've caught her sneaking food to her room and short of locking up the kitchen, I don't know what to do!
Q- it seems like all my kids and I do is have negative conversations all day. I'm either busting their chops about homework or chores or their bickering or a million other things. I don't think my kids like me. There are days when I just want to throw my hands up and let them do whatever they want because its so exhausting sometimes. I'm am not having fun being a parent.
SELF
Q- I knew when I made the choice to marry and have children, I was making certain sacrifices and I LOVE my children and husband. But I sometimes wrestle with regret over my own dreams and goals that I feel like I gave up along the way.
Q- I'm an unhappy man. Don't get me wrong, I have a great wife, awesome kids, but I feel like I'm an outsider watching their lives from a distance. It seems like all I do is work, eat and sleep day after day after day. But there's nothing I can do about it, I feel trapped.
Q- I'm married to a good mam, I have good kids but I have no friends. I used to be so socially active when I was single but now, not so much. The other day, my 7 year old asked me who my friends were. Of ourselves I told her daddy was and she was. Maybe that's enough? I feel guilty taking time away from family to do things with others. So conflicted.
