There were a ton of things going on with tonight’s elimination show including a few announcements.

The contest for writing the American Idol song for the last show when the winner is crowned is on.  Last year’s winner, This Is My Now, was sung and recorded by Jordan Sparks.

Another great Ford commercial in black and white.  The cast looked like they had a lot of fun filming it.  I’m jealous.

Mentors for this season awere named:  Dolly Parton, Mariah Carey, Andrew Lloyd Weber, and Neil Diamond.  I’m looking forward to all four but there’s nine more shows left so I felt we were missing a few, no?

Questions and answers from viewers was somewhat intriguing. One woman wanted to know why Simon spends so much money on cars but not on clothes.  I cracked up when he told her it was a rude question.  Now isn’t this the kettle calling the pot black!

Kellie Pickler performed her country hit Red High Heels.   She is more beautiful than ever, inside and out, and just a joy to watch.  I am so happy for her that Idol kick-started what appears to be a fabulous new career.

April 9th will be this season’s Idol Gives Back episode.  Elliott Yamin and Fantasia Barrino gave us a guided tour showing where last year’s money went.  It was very touching to see Elliott’s reaction to a newborn being named after him.  I cried right along with him!  Billy Crystal and Robin Williams will be participating in this season’s Idol Gives Back show along with a number of other “superstars” (as Ryan Seacrest put it).

The bottom three were rightfully named this week(in my eyes anyway).  Carley Smithson, Kristy Lee Cook, and Amanda Overmyer.  I was grateful that both Chikezie and Ramiele Malubay made it through to next week in spite of their performances last night.  But honestly, I thought for sure that America would get it right and vote out Kristy Lee for good.  But again it didn’t happen.  This time it was Amanda Overmyer’s turn to go.  She didn’t even look upset.  Why should she be?  Just watching Kelli Pickler should be enough for all of those young artists to see that you don’t have to win to be successful once the competition is over!

As for Kristy Lee Cook remaining AGAIN, I guess I need to start voting!!!!!!!!!!!!
