Tonight’s episode showcased the Top 12 girls performing music from the 1960’s. I’ve rated each performance on a scale from 1-10 and noted why each contestant scored high or low in my book:

1)    Kristy Lee Cook ~ (7) ~ A nice voice but a bit boring.  Hopefully it’s because she wasn’t feeling well (the flu was going around).
2)    Joanne Borgella (6) ~ I was really disappointed in her performance because I love this girl.  But the entire song was off-key and not very good at all.
3)    Alaina Whitaker (9) ~ She took me by surprise.  She has a great voice.  I think she sounds a lot like Kelly Clarkson.
4)    Amanda Overmyer (9) ~ I just love this girl because she’s unique and she knows who she is.  I’m just a little worried she only has one dimension.
5)    Amy Davis (6) ~ It was painful to listen to her massacre one of my favorite Connie Frances songs (Where The Boys Are).  She was flat during the entire performance. Definitely the WORST OF THE NIGHT!
6)    Brooke White (9) ~ She’s gorgeous.  She’s unique.  She has star quality. But she wasn’t as good as I had hoped she would be.  Maybe it was the song choice?
7)    Alexandrea Lushington (9) ~ She has a great voice.  I thought the band and the arrangement didn’t help her much and she needs some work on her upper register, but I think she’ll do well in the competition nonetheless.
8)    Kady Malloy (8) ~ She has a great voice but there were some definite pitch problems.
9)    Asia'h Epperson (10) ~ This girl is still one of my favorites.  She blew it out of the house!  She’s gorgeous, has star-quality, and real style.  She comes off as a pro!
10)    Ramiele Malubay (10) ~ I loved the hair but I hated the clothes.  She has this tiny little squeaky speaking voice but a deep, rich, flawless singing voice.  This girl could win it, that’s for sure.  It was a tie with her and Syesha Mercado for BEST OF THE NIGHT!
11)    Syesha Mercado (10) ~ Syesha is another one of my favorites.  This girl can blow!!!       I agree with Simon.  She is the entire package and is also one that could win this competition.  It was a tie with her and Ramiele Malubay for BEST OF THE NIGHT!
12)    Carly Smithson (9) ~ There is no doubt this girl has a phenomenal voice but there’s something about her I just don’t like.  I don’t like looking at her and I also think she’s a phony.  Tell me, if she was already signed with a recording company, whether they went under or not, why is she on American Idol?

If I were making the decision as to who would be voted off, I’d choose Amy Davis because she pales in comparison to the rest and Carly Smithson because she has no place on this show.

I was worried at the beginning of the night that the girls weren’t going to compare to the guys’ performances last night, but by the end of the evening the ladies showed they have a lot to offer this competition as well.
