What does it take to pull off a Duggar-sized wedding on a Duggar-Sized budget? One word: Sierra. The wedding coordinator. It was important to keep the costs down so a lot was recycled and purchased online.
The hardest things to plan on are the surprises, like a bridesmaid from Indonesia showing up two days before the wedding. Luckily Jessa had an extra dress in her size and the florist was able to whip together another bouquet. Jim Bob decided to join in on the surprises and gave Ben the wrong ring when Ben forgot Jessa's band at home. Oh the Dad jokes never stop. Another surprise was the cold weather joining the guests outside during the reception (it eventually warmed up). But the biggest surprise of all was stone-cold Jessa crying along with her father before walking down the aisle. Who knew she had feelings? Oh, wait... the lack of a first kiss at their wedding may have been the biggest surprise, but that one was planned.
In the weeks leading up to Jill and Derek's wedding his mother was stricken with cancer and the odds weren't in her favor. While visiting her in the hospital and spending as much time as possible with her during her illness, Jill and Derek planned their wedding with her. Since she was with her new second family, her immediate family stepped up in a big way. Thankfully Cathy, Derrick's mom, was able to attend the wedding after all.
Josh and Anna were the leaders of all things budget. They bought mismatched discount invitations, Anna wore her sister's wedding gown, made her own veil, bridesmaids dresses ($35 each) and boutonnieres. Their bridal party was 10 bridesmaids, 10 groomsmen, 2 flower girls and 2 ring bearers. But what stood out was his brother forgetting the rings and Josh singing a song to his bride (which was originally a children's song).
(How well do the married couples know each other? Round 1: Josh and Anna. Round 2: Jim Bob and Michelle. Round 3: Josh and Anna, Jessa and Ben.)
