It's round three of the blinds, and I've been waiting to hear that thing from one of the contestants. That Tessanne Chin thing. That Javier Colon thing. That sound that you hear when you know that the person singing can win the WHOLE competition. Tonight, I heard that twice!

The first time was when a very special singer named Sonic hit the stage. She was actually signed to a label at age 14, but her album was never released. Having her career stunted was a blow to her ego, but it never stopped her. She's been pursuing music since age 10  and she's deaf in one ear. She sang Sam Smith's "Money On My Mind" and BLEW IT AWAY. She really could win the whole competition. Since she's a powerhouse its a match made in heaven that she's on Team Christina. The other singer that made my jaw drop was India Carney, a 21 year old college senior who has been a strong background in music education. She went to the Fame high school and is currently finishing up the music program at UCLA. For her blind audition, she sang Sam Smith's "Money on my Mind" and earned one of the rare four chair turnarounds of the night. During her artist highlight they showed her singing Opera, so I don't think this song really displayed her impressive range and versatility, but she's still one of the best in the competition and I can't wait to hear her sing again. She's also joining Team Christina. Perhaps with these two powerhouses under her belt Christina can actually win for a change!?!

Besides these two ladies, there were plenty of other amazing artists tonight. The first one to perform was a country artist by the name of Chelsea May. Christina was looking to get a country artist on her team and after Chelsea's great rendition of "You're Looking at Country" she was eager to land her. She invited her to represent country on  Team Christina, but she chose Blake - like they always do. Then there was quirky Kimberly Nicole who works at a club that she describes as Studio 54 meets Moulin Rouge. She hit the stage singing "Nutbush City Limits" originally performed by Ike and Tina Turner. To match her quirkiness, she chose Pharell a her coach - another perfect match.

I tend to favor the female artists, but I can't forget the talented guys that rocked the stage tonight. First was Travis Ewing, who sang his chopped up and slowed down version of Destiny's Child's "Say My Name". Christina was the first one to turn her chair, but he went with Pharell. Pharell was impressed by his musical arrangement and was happy to have him. Barry Minniefield is an holder guy with ALOT of soul. He performed Me and Mrs. Jones and I had to pinch myself to remember that I wasn't listening to Billy Paul himself. Despite his smooth velvety voice, only Adam turned around.  I think he's going to surprise people in the competition and become the breakout star.

Stay tuned for tomorrow night as the blind auditions die down!
