Tonight was the second round of live shows. Since the blind auditions started this was the first night where all the decisions were completely out of the hands of the coaches - and in the hands of America. Besides the eliminations, viewers were treated to a performance by UK sensation Ella Hendersen and several coach and team performances. Instead of the coaches being able to save a member of their team this week, there was a bottom three and the instant save was brought back! Here is a list of who was saved by America, in order:
Matt McAndrew
Anita Antoinette
Danica Shirey
Craig Wayne Boyd
Damien
Raegan James
Taylor John Williams
Chris Jamison
Luke Wade
Luke was the last to be saved by America during voting. This left Jessie Pitts, Ryan Sil, and Sugar Jones in the bottom three and gave them the chance to perform one more time to earn the instant save. I always wonder how this works - does everyone perform two songs, or do they tell them beforehand they're in the bottom? Either way - the contestants end up singing for their lives. Jesse did a haunting version of "Gravity" by Sarah Barielles. Sugar chose (the producers chose?) to do something with an upbeat tempo, singing Whitney Houston's "Somebody Who Loves Me." Ryan took a cue from Jessie and did the ballad "More Than Words" originally performed by Xtreme. Shockingly, America chose to save Ryan, sending both Sugar and Jessie home!
Next week the newly revealed Top 10 will perform to remain in the competition. Stay tuned!
