19 Kids and Counting: Duggars and Mothers

Jill and Derick:
We meet back up with the Duggars on the heels of Jill and Derick's engagement. They are rushing to plan a 1,000-1500 guest wedding (the average wedding has 140 guests) in only 3 months (four times shorter than the average American engagement). Perhaps that's the reason for the short engagement is Derick's mother, Cathy, is undergoing lymphoma treatment.

Jill is the first Duggar daughter to get married and it is obvious the Duggar ladies have no idea what they're in for. The smartest of the clan seems to be little Jason, "I think the groom should be like 5% involved and like 95% agreed."

As a wedding gift to the new married couple Jim Bob is allowing Jill and Derick to live in an abandoned house he found a few years prior that the Duggar family restored. A pretty nice gift considering it's three stories. First born Josh, and his wife Anna, lived in a tiny 960 sqft house at the beginning of their marriage. Are we favoring the female?

Jessa and Ben:
For Mother's Day the Dillards and the Seewalds get together for the first time at the Duggar abode. Jill and Jessa are in charge of the meal... mostly Jill because Jessa seems a bit clueless. (Based on this kitchen scene alone I am really hoping Jessa and Ben get their own spinoff when they get hitched.) During the lunch Jim Bob asks Ben if he'd like to move into their no carpet, no window, no A/C guest house... in front of Ben's parents and six siblings. Not awkward at all. Happy Mother's Day, Mom, I'm moving four hours away to live and work with the Duggars! Jim Bob, of course, wants to set up boundaries and a curfew for Ben if he will be near his daughter full time. Welcome to living "on your own".

Side note:
The Duggars use enough cleaning supplies to keep 7 industrial kitchens clean. I'm guessing this family is the reason Arkansas based SAM's Club exists.
