David is a 413 pound, 30 year old chef and MMA enthusiast front St. Louis who has lost both his brother and sister. At 17 David left to party with friends and his younger brother broke into their parents gun cabinet and accidentally killed their older brother. Then a few weeks later David fell asleep before giving his little sister her epilepsy medication and she died of a seizure in her sleep. After struggling with the guilt, he now wants to lose the weight he has accumulated. But his journey does not start off easy. During the first 45 days at the Anschutz Health and Wellness facility he has a heart attack scare, and the second 45 days he tears several ligaments in his foot. Chris' Phase I goal for David is to lose 114 pounds, down to 299. David somehow pushes through all of the setbacks and gets down to 295, which is 118 pounds lighter than where he started.

Now the really hard part begins. Now he has to do it on his own at home. Chris' new goal for Phase II is to lose 55 more pounds by the 6 month mark and participate in three rounds of an MMA fight. But after being promoted at work he finds working 12 hour days, depleting his workout time, difficult to manage. Thanks to Chris and Heidi, the home gym they gifted him makes working out more accessible. But it doesn't allow David to reach his Phase II goal. Instead he's down to 260, only 35 pounds lost. However he still wants to participate in the MMA milestone challenge with martial artist Michael Bisping. And wins!

David's Phase III goal is to get down to 225 pounds. But again, he falls short. He's down to 234 pounds, 9 pounds short of his goal. He's lost over 43% of his original body weight and eligible for skin removal surgery.

At the reveal, David celebrates his journey with his best friend, and girlfriend, Kayla. Chris asks her to join David on stage and after emptying his pockets before stepping on the scale, he drops to one knee and pulls out a ring. She says YES! With that load off, it's time to weight in.

David has lost a total of 201 pounds and is down to 212 in 365 days! And is so handsome. To pay it forward, he is giving the weight loss destination bootcamp experience to his mother.
