Tim Wiyninger and Danny Merkey of The Amazing Race 23

Best friends Tim Wiyninger and Danny Merkey got the adventure of a lifetime when they were cast this season on The Amazing Race. The Oklahoma boys had very little travel experience, had never been out of the country, and suddenly found themselves in Chile, Portgual, Norway, Poland, and Austria. Austria, though, ended up being the end of the road for the pair after a very tough Road Block. We chatted with them today about their experience, whether or not they would've taken a cab from another team, and if they'd gear up to race again.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Who was the one who really pushed the other to try out for The Amazing Race?
A. Tim: It was a mutual thing. We were at work and we were always talking about what we could do to win a game show. The Amazing Race seemed perfect for us.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Given that you two haven't traveled really, and haven't been out of the country, what was it like to be on the race?
A. Tim: For me, it was exciting! It was something new to experience. I don't really stress that easily, to be honest. It was great. The main thing when you're traveling is just the language barrier. If you can get by, it's all good.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: That Vienna Boys Choir challenge this week looked like one of the toughest in recent memory. What were you feeling, going into it?
A. Danny: I think that challenge was rough! Everybody struggled with it to some extent. There were people there with musical backgrounds... a lot more musically inclined than Tim or I. It's something you'd never think of to work on.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Tim, it took you a long time to finish that Road Block. Were you starting to panic as more teams finished and left?
A. Tim: I think it was more stressful for Danny than me. I'm downstairs and didn't really know what was going on. Were you pretty stressed out, Dan?
A. Danny: Yeah, I was pretty stressed! We were the third of the fourth team there and Tim goes to pick a teacher and work on his singing. I see team after team come in. I think a couple teams were on their second or third try before Tim came up the first time.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: There was talk by the fans this week about Tim and Marie stealing Jason and Amy's cab. If you were in their position, would you have taken the cab?
A. Tim: Everybody sees us as really nice guys but the cab was fair game. I would've done the same thing! They're in it to win it!
A. Danny: I would've talked him out of it if there was another cab there. If it was the only cab...
A. Tim:
It wasn't easy to get a cab in Vienna!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: The news must have been tough to take from Phil that you were eliminated.
A. Danny: When you first hear you're eliminated, it's gut wrenching. It didn't feel good. Looking back, it was a great experience and we feel like we won just by getting to compete this season.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: I assume you'd go back in a heartbeat if you were asked to compete again?
A. Tim: Absolutely!
A. Danny: Half a heartbeat!
