Howard Overby of Big Brother 15

Howard Overby's game got off to a rocky start this season on Big Brother and he was never able to recover. After his alliance, The Moving Company, disbanded, he was deemed untrustworthy and a physical threat. Despite coming clean about his deals in the house, and never winning a challenge, he was still a huge target and was voted out of the house last Thursday. We chatted with Howard about the demise of his game and got his thoughts about the racial comments that were made during the season.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What made you decide to try out for Big Brother this season?
A. Howard: Man, it was kinda outta nowhere. I was a fan, but I never dreamed that I'd actually be in the house. It was a Godsend. I had been unemployed for a few months, got an email about a casting nearby in New Orleans, and said "What the hell?" It worked out and I accomplished a prayer to represent myself on a huge stage. It was great and I wouldn't change a thing.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: If there wasn't the MVP twist this season, would you still have joined The Moving Company?
A. Howard: I wouldn't say that I wouldn't have joined The Moving Company because I wanted to be part of an alliance. It would've be easier to get people out with something crazy happening though.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You had a reputation in the house for being untrustworthy, particularly with Helen for a while. What did you make of that?
A. Howard: I don't see how I was being untrustworthy. We didn't talk game. She took our friendship to mean an alliance. The fact that you can figure out what I'm doing, you feel embarrassed. If I'm not with you, of course I'm gonna look untrustworthy.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: There were a lot of people who were worried about you being a physical threat. No offense, but you really didn't do that well in challenges. Was that on purpose?
A. Howard: Truth be told.. it was never my desire to win. I saw Jeremy and his warrior mentality, and wanted to help. The Moving Company was not just five guys, but five guys and three girls. I was going to aid in that, and I wanted the attention off me. I wanted to play more of a social game.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You and Candice had your ups and downs, especially towards the end. How did you leave things?
A. Howard: I tried to instill in Candice all that I could before leaving. We had our moment before I left and I told her this is how it was supposed to be and it was gonna be alright. It is what it is.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: There was a lot of talk about your speech in the kitchen not making sense. Is it hard to find the right words to say to people in this game sometimes?
A. Howard: Yes, especially when you're on the outs. There were not many grown or mature people in that house. These people wanted to play it safe and were led astray by those in power. It was hard to say things one on one because it would get twisted but in a group, it would look like you're trying to grandstand. People are going to call it what they want.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: After you left the house, Julie asked you about the racial comments that were made by some of your housemates. Now that you've had a little time, what do you think about everything that happened?
A. Howard: It's very disheartening no matter what side you're on. I thank God for blessing me and that I reacted the way I did. The jobs that were lost, I'm not happy about it and I don't feel vindicated by it. It's sad and unfortunate that I'll probably see and hear more that I don't like. I won't be surprised, but it's not good. I'm gonna pray for my castmates and hopefully, they change. However God wants me to help them, I will but I'm still me. I need to distance myself from them and pray from afar.
