Anastasia Miller from The Real World: Portland

This season on The Real World: Portland, model and roommate Anastasia Miller has been keeping the peace between Jordan Wiseley and Nia Moore. She is always ready to be a friend or lend an ear to whoever needs her in the house, but we have yet to get to know her as well as we might like. Anastasia, aka "Bird", talked to RealityWanted today in an exclusive interview about the fights in the house, her boyfriend coming to visit her in Portland, and what she hopes fans get from watching her on The Real World.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What made you decide to try out for The Real World? What were the qualities about yourself that made you a good fit, in your opinion?
A. Anastasia: Honestly, I came home from Los Angeles and I had moved out there for a few months. Something had happened and I came home. The day after I came home, my grandmother showed me a newspaper article saying there were tryouts close to my hometown. I didn't have anything else going on, and I just took a weird chance. I didn't wake up one day and say, "I want to be on The Real World." I just happened to take a chance. Walking into the audition, I definitely felt like I'm very personable with everyone, charismatic, and I'm not very shy. I think people come into the situation and they think if they say the right thing, they'll automatically get on the show.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: With the situation between Jordan and Nia, you've taken on the peacekeeper role. Is that something that you're prone to do in your everyday life?
A. Anastasia: I mean, I wouldn't say in life I'm a peacekeeper. I'm definitely a firm believer in doing the right thing. In certain situations in the house, there needed to be somebody like me who was speaking truth and saying, "You need to look at the other side of the situation." As far as me in the house, I was probably more mature than the others for some weird reason. I kind of just fell into that role naturally.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Do you feel like people in the house were being too hard on Jordan and Nia following their blowout?
A. Anastasia: I don't think anyone was being too hard on Jordan and Nia, except for Jordan and Nia. I think that both people made horribly rash decisions. When you don't think about what you're doing, you have to deal with the consequences of your actions.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Who would you say you had the best relationship with in the house?
A. Anastasia: It's weird because you don't get to see a lot of it, but Marlon and I were actually very, very close. We had long talks about the human ego, why people in our house were so defensive about certain things, and we were definitely the closest.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Coming up this season, we're going to see your boyfriend come visit and I was wondering if it was a relief to have someone from home or was it kind of weird, in a way?
A. Anastasia: Yeah, it was weird. Actually, it didn't feel how I wanted it to feel. It was like two worlds coming together.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: By the time the season ends, what do you want people to know or understand about you?
A. Anastasia:
I hope, by the end of the season, people understand that I'm just human. I'm not perfect but I try. Sometimes, it's better to be the one who does the right thing and gets criticized versus going along with the sheep. I hope that people watch the show and really just see I'm just a nice girl. Anybody can hang out with me. I'm not a judgmental person but I'm also not perfect. I have my own flaws, too. That's what I learned from the show is my mistakes and flaws, things I don't like about myself and things that I do. I hope you get to see a little bit more of my background and story, because that's important to me. I'm surprised that by episode 7, you still haven't really heard my personal story.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Has doing The Real World made you want to do more television?
A. Anastasia: Yeah, I mean, it's something that I think about. Actually, I went to school for journalism so I think about being a reporter. I definitely think about it.
