Angie Layton from Survivor: Philippines

If Angie hadn't taken enough heat on Survivor: Philippines for saying the one thing she would change about her tribe was cookies, she definitely was under the microscope for her perceived showmance with Malcolm. Before being voted out, Roxy made sure everybody had it in their heads that a couple was a dangerous thing and the following week, when the Matsing tribe lost their third challenge in a row, it was Angie's turn to go. We talked to the former pageant queen in an exclusive interview to find out more about her experience, and what she really thinks of the people she played Survivor with.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What drew you to the game of Survivor and made you want to play?
A. Angie: What really drew me was the challenges. I love competition and competing, especially when it's sports related. I love that! I just wanted that opportunity to compete.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was the hardest part about being out there, as opposed to watching it on tv?
A. Angie: When you watch it on tv, you see people laying on the beach, it looks sunny and warm! But It was so cold! It was rainy but the cold was the hardest part. You have to be mentally strong in this game. I think I pulled through. I wasn't prepared for how cold.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You took a lot of heat for your alliance with Malcolm but there didn't seem to be too much going on beyond the cuddling at night. Was there more going on or was it what it looked like on tv?
A. Angie: It was exactly what it looked like. We're great friends, that's about it. He saved my life. I can seriously say he was my lifesaver. I was freezing at night and he kept me warm. There was nothing romantic.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was going on with Roxy's issues with you?
A. Angie: I deal with girls like her every day. I handled it well especially in tribal council. When it comes down to it, I think she was just jealous.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Was there anything said about you that bothered you when you watched it back?
A. Angie: You know, when Roxy went off about my boobs. That really surprised me because she came on preaching about Jesus. I think it was inappropriate for her to talk about my breasts, to be honest. And then the whole Miss America thing. She can get it right, it's Miss USA!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Jeff really got on your case at the tribal council when you he asked you what you would change about your tribe and you said "cookies". What was that about?
A. Angie: Okay, the thing about that was... we wanted Roxy out. We didn't like her, we didn't get a good vibe from her. So day one, she was supposed to be the one gone. Russell was in the hot seat, Zane threw himself under the bus, and we voted him off. We voted Zane even though I didn't want to vote Zane. The next time, we wanted her gone. It wasn't between me and her. I knew I was 110% safe. There was so much tension and it was so serious... and I don't like tension. Roxy said, "Do less work around camp." Is that a good answer? He asked me, so I cracked a joke. I wanted to lighten the mood and I threw Jeff off. After that, he was ON me and he wanted to break me down but I held my composure.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: So you were confident in the tribal council where Roxy was sent home. What about this past one, where you were voted out? How were you feeling before the votes were revealed?
A. Angie: It was like 50/50, a fighting chance. I knew I was on the chopping block because of the challenge and because of Russell. I was really happy he didn't do well because I had a chance to stay.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How did you feel about leaving the game when you did?
A. Angie: It was bittersweet. I was appreciative for the time I spent out there. I wanted to stay so bad. I wish they would've chosen me over Russell, but it's okay. I can't change anything about that. It was an amazing time of my life where I learned so much about myself.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: If you stayed in the game, would you have been loyal to Malcolm until the end?
A. Angie: You know, things change in the game. If I got to the point where I was safe and in a better alliance, that's the game.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: He was also aligned with Denise. Do you think he would've stuck with her until the end, or you?
A. Angie: That's a hard one because I know they clicked from the beginning. I wasn't trying that hard to connect with him and I would've tried harder. If I would've, maybe he would've chosen me. She obviously is really smart. I'm really smart too but in the game, a couple can be really dangerous. That's a tricky question.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Was there anyone on another tribe that you wish you could've worked with?
A. Angie: You know, from day one, I wanted to be with Lisa. For some reason, she reminds me of my mom. She was so sweet. Just her energy was so genuine and kind, I wanted to be with her. I just saw something in her I really liked. Watching it and seeing she's alone, it's made me so sad.
