Dancing With The Stars All Stars

With all of the dancers delivering impressive routines during this week's Dancing With The Stars performances, tonight's results will definitely put at least one high-scoring couple in danger for the first time. Sabrina and Louis start the night with the highest judges scores of the season, and their Quick Step is also the judges' choice for an encore performance.

Checking in with the couples after their dances, Joey says he feels good, Drew feels "good to be home," Emmitt hopes they'll have the chance to give a better performance next week, and Louis is just glad he didn't drop Sabrina. We're glad too, Louis.

This is the first group of dancers to learn their results, and Sabrina and Louis quickly find out they're safe. Emmitt and Cheryl are also told they're safe, leaving my two boyband brothers - Joey and Kym and Drew and Anna. After Drew and Anna find out they are NOT returning to the bottom two this week, Joey and Kym are told they're in jeopardy.

Yikes. This does not please me.

What else doesn't please me? Tom's announcement that next week will result in a DOUBLE elimination. Why? WHY, TOM?! Why must we send TWO All Stars home in ONE week?

Brooke is upstairs with some of our other couples, and the first thing I notice is that Bristol is wearing glasses. I'm wondering if this is a setup for a schtick to go along with her "shy redneck" routine. Kelly is looking forward to having a week off from her work on General Hospital so she can focus on dancing, and Kirstie is happy she got her two least favorite dances out of the way. If she makes it through to next week, she's really excited (and hopeful!) about her Cha Cha.

Cher Lloyd, the British pop star and former X Factor contestant (UK edition), performs Want U Back (not to be confused with the *NSYNC song of a similar title, which again tells you what generation I'm from...apparently this is a theme with DWTS special guests) with her circus act. When they panned the audience, did anyone else spy Santa in the crowd?

The next video package focuses on how hard the pros are working to keep their stars in the competition - no one wants to let his or her partner down. Because the stars are coming in with more experience, the pros are challenged to choreograph on a higher level.

The Macy's Stars of Dance take the floor next, performing some sort of futuristic battle for my soul. It's a little Thriller, it's a little West Side Story, it's a little Cirque du Soleil....it's a pretty cool combination, actually.

In a preview of the type of routines we'll see when the dancers revisit some of their performances next week, the DWTS troupe brings some previous highlights back to floor. It's a great medley that also features Lacey and Benji Schwimmer, the siblings who are well known among reality-tv dance fans.

Among the next couples who will hear their results are Derek and Shawn (who is so excited after her dance that she wants to do it again!) and Mark and Bristol (who just wants to get the dance over with). Mark notes that Bristol looks mad after Carrie Ann "slams" her, and Bristol responds that no matter what, she's just going to get 6's. Which will definitely be true if she doesn't step up her dancing.

Kirstie often uses humor to mask her lack of confidence on the dance floor, and I have to say that Maks' way of handling her makes me really enjoy them as a couple. They give each other a hard time, but, as is evidenced in the "back stage" chatter shown, she wants to please him, and he wants her to do well. It's sweet. Not to be outdone by his brother, Val and Kelly are pretty cute, too. As they have their post-performance interview, Kelly suggests they do four poses as if they're in a photo booth. Love it.

So who is safe? Shawn and Derek and Kirstie and Maks, first of all. But then Kelly and Val are told they're in jeopardy, though Bristol and Mark are safe. My only pleasure in this announcement is Tom reminding us all that Bristol and Mark were the lowest scoring couple, but it's small consolation.

One of my favorite dancers last season, Katherine Jenkins, is visiting the ballroom tonight with Placido Domingo, performing "Come What May." It's a shame she won't be dancing for us tonight, but her singing is pretty good too and she looks gorgeous. Also looking gorgeous? Val and Anna, who danced the number.

Helio and Chelsie are among the final four couples to get their results, and Helio gets the bonus of a language lesson, as Chelsie tries to explain what the judges meant by the rest of his body catching up with his charm. We see that before their performance, Melissa and Tony were suffering from a little bit of a case of sweaty palms, but they pulled it off.

The more I watch Gilles and Peta, the more I like them, especially as Peta tries to teach Gilles how to say "cleavage." And kudos to DWTS for being an educational experience for handsome exotic men! Apolo and Karina are shown impressing not only the judges, but also themselves. "I've got no regrets," Apolo says.

Gilles and Peta are the next to hear they're safe, followed by Melissa and Tony. With two former champions left, Apolo and Karina are also declared safe, while Helio and Chelsie are in jeopardy with Kelly and Val and Joey and Kym.

The three pairs wait to find out who will be returning to the dance floor next week, and Kelly and Val are the first pair to be sent back to safety. Neither Helio nor Joey have any regrets, and both are just focused on having fun and doing their best.

But who's going home? Joey and Kym.

I'd be lying if I didn't admit to being sad about this elimination. With the All Stars, (almost) all the eliminations are going to be tough, but I'll miss having *NSYNC represented on the dance floor. More interesting, though, is Joey's comment about going to a wedding tomorrow - could it be that Justin Timberlake is tying the knot? Will Joey be leading the Electric Slide at the reception??? Can I finally get ALL FIVE of my boyband boyfriends together again, even for just one day?!?!

The potential for this event is the only consolation to Joey being eliminated from DWTS. In reality, his daughter is probably staging a wedding for her dolls. But it's nice to dream anyway.

So that's it for Week 2 of the All Star edition, and the competition will be fierce when the STARS take creative control of their routines in a week with a double elimination!
