Roxy Morris from Survivor: Philippines

In the game of Survivor, a pair (especially one that seems romantically involved) is dangerous. Though Roxy tried to warn her Matsing tribe that Malcolm and Angie were a dangerous combo, her words fell on deaf ears. Only Russell seemed to be on her side but, with Denise's allegiance to Malcolm, he had to go with the tribe and vote her out in the end. We talked to Roxy today about her time in the game, what's wrong with her tribe, and if she'd play again.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Are you a longtime fan of Survivor? What made you try out?
A. Roxy: I'm more of a recent fan of the show. I did have a cousin of a cousin who is a fanatic. I mean, this guy is crazy! I started watching and then kept watching. I always used to tell them about going to church and doing what I do. I probably annoyed him so much that he was like, "You need to try out, you need to be on the show." I knew I had the physical aspect and I'm in the military; that's my thing. I'm that type of person. I opened my computer up, and I made a 30 or 45 second video of myself. I had never even done a video of myself before and I got a call the same day.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What did you think of the returning players coming into the game this season, and being split into three tribes as opposed to two?
A. Roxy: Well, I have to say, I call myself a bit pathetic here. If you track back to the first episode, you see me look very disappointed that we had three returning players. I said, "Oh man, not fair." And then, when I saw it was Russell, I was so excited because if you look back, Jeff asks the lady in the blue dress, which is me, tell about a time I saw someone evacuated. I describe a particular player and it was Russell. For me, I was very disappointed we were split into three tribes because that meant nowhere to hide. If we were talking about a different season with two tribes, I would be in the game longer. It is what it is.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Your tribe lost the first two challenges in a row. What is the issue?
A. Roxy: There's two main issues and I think I highlighted it. They put too much energy into camp and then you can't perform in challenges. It's one thing when you have a tribe with nine and you're working hard, but I can't imagine you having the right energy left. That's number one. Number two is poisonous relationships. Angie and Malcolm are not just an alliance to get through the game. They can't be broken. Once people start making that gushy relationship, it's poisonous.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Denise was the swing vote in the middle of your tribe and decided to stick with Malcolm. You were making good points at tribal about his relationship with Angie. Was she just not listening?
A. Roxy: I definitely think she wasn't listening... first of all, it was a personal thing against me. I know she's a psychologist but she should've been able to separate her feelings towards me. She didn't like me and then she had an alliance with Malcolm. Clearly, Malcolm doesn't want Angie out. She was thinking, "If I'm gonnna keep Malcolm, I gotta keep Angie." I don't think she felt Angie was a better player. She was like, "He's my ally, I have to make him happy." I felt like that was how she was thinking.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: I take it you weren't surprised that you were voted out.
A. Roxy: Not at all. I think my little smirk and laugh reflected that. It wasn't a total surprise. We're dealing with a tribe who can't win challenges. Hello?

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Even though you were only out there for a few days, was it worth it?
A. Roxy: Absolutely! I'm incredibly thrilled with the six days that I was in the game. It was not easy and it was harder than you get to see on tv. I'd love to do anything that challenges me. I'm a 5'4 girl from the big city and I'm training to be a chaplain in the US Army. Clearly, I like to do things that seem a little above my means. If I could do it again, I would do it again in a heartbeat. If I could wish one thing for Christians, it would be to have an experience like Survivor.
