Daniel Rosa from The Voice Season 3

If at first you don't succeed, try try again. That was the case for Daniel Rosa on The Voice. He auditioned during Season 2 last year, but did not get a coach to turn around for him. He came back for Season 3 and this time he got two of the judges to turn around for him (Blake and Cee Lo), which means he will be heading to the Battle Rounds. Today, he talked with RealityWanted in an exclusive interview about that hug from Adam Levine, why he picked Cee Lo and much more.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What made you initially try out for The Voice?
A. Daniel: Actually, it was an accident. I auditioned for another TV show because last year I was looking for confirmation on if I was a good singer or not. My Mom says I'm great, but it's my Mom (laughs). I didn't actually make it through to the TV show, so I kind of stopped. My friend was going to go audition for The Voice and she wanted me to go and hold signs for her. So, when we got in the line we found out that the only way I could be in line with her to support her was if I auditioned too. I didn't really know if I wanted to do that and she didn't want to be in line by herself, so I went in line with her to be her friend and I came out with a ticket.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: This was your second time going through the auditions. What was it like going through the Blind Auditions process for a second time?
A. Daniel: It was kind of cool because last season, I was like what am I doing and I don't know what I am doing. I was so unprepared and it was so last minute because I wasn't planning to audition for the show, so every time I kept getting further and further it was weird. This time, I know what I'm doing and I know I'm going to audition and I know what I'm going to be going through from last season. Last season I was like a scared puppy and this time, I was like I got this. I know what's going to happen and all the other contestants are asking me questions.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What made you choose "Somebody That I Used To Know" for your audition song?
A. Daniel: I wanted to pick a song that was simple, but I wanted to completely change it. I knew it was going to be a really big risk doing that song because it is so known and everybody covers it, but I noticed everybody covers it the same way. Everybody does it like the original, so I really wanted to show some originality with it.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: After you were done singing, Adam Levine ran up to you and gave you a big hug. How was that for you?
A. Daniel: He literally charged at me and I didn't see it coming. I was still in my head saying they turned the chair and that means I'm on the show and I was still putting pieces together slowly in my head. The next thing I know Adam is like tackling me. He actually almost tackled me to the floor because I was so out of it. It was weird because I didn't see it coming.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: Blake and Cee Lo turned around for you this time around. What made you choose Cee Lo over Blake?
A. Daniel: The weird thing was I was completely wanting to go with Blake. If all four chairs turn around, Blake, Blake, Blake. For some reason, I felt this connection with Cee Lo and I don't know how to explain that, but there was just something that happened.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What's it been like working with him so far?
A. Daniel: It's actually been really interesting working with him. He's actually a really cool, soft-spoken guy, so I felt like we connected really well. I'm not an in-your-face kind of person and I thought Cee Lo would be because of the he is, I mean he dresses as a chicken. He's a very crazy kind of guy, but he was very cool and down-to-earth, funny. It is a lot of fun to work with the guy.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What's your strategy going into the Battle Rounds?
A. Daniel: Nope, I don't know what's going to happen (laughs). I didn't have any strategy. My only goal for this whole season was to make it past the blind auditions. If I make it past the blind auditions, then I was going to be happy. I don't care if I go home, it is perfectly fine.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What's it feel like seeing your song on iTunes and seeing people buying it and getting all the love on Facebook and Twitter?
A. Daniel: It's been amazing. I've been playing this game on Facebook and Twitter with my fans. For every 500 followers I get, I ask them five questions and there are five winners and I call those five people and they get to ask me 20 questions. It's so funny to see all the people that are so excited to talk to me. It's so weird because two weeks ago you people didn't care about me and not know who I was. Now all of a sudden I am on television and I'm the greatest person ever (laughs).

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: Anything you want to say to those fans that might be reading this?
A. Daniel: Thank you for the support. I don't know if I would have come back to the show if it weren't for the great comments and the nice people that were overflowing with nice things to say. If everything would have been negative, I don't know if I would have come back.
