The Bachelorette Season 8

by Gina Scarpa

Emily has narrowed down the playing field to three men and this week on The Bachelorette, she takes Arie, Jef, and Sean to the Caribbean island of Curacao. Going into the dates, Emily can't seem to find a bad word to say about each of the guys. In fact, she's having a hard time figuring out which one she's supposed to be with! Perhaps the time alone with each one will help shed some light.

Things start off with Sean and the two take a helicopter ride (the only way to travel on The Bachelor/Bachelorette) to a private island for a picnic. Emily grills him about his past relationships, after hearing from Sean's family that he treated his exes like buddies. Apparently, they were just referring to one ex but still... Emily doesn't seem like the kind of girl who wants a noogie. He seems like he's going to tell Emily he loves her but he holds off until dinner, and also shares a really adorable letter he wrote Ricki that he hopes she'll get to read someday.

The fantasy suite card makes an appearance, as we all know it would, and Emily extends the invite to Sean, though she does send him home at the end of the night instead of having him stay. Sure, she's been making out with lots of different guys this season but it's good that she's drawing the line at staying overnight with them. Kudos to her for sticking to her morals and remaining a good role model to her daughter!

Jef's up next for a little yacht ride through the ocean where he reveals that his siblings approved of Emily, and now his parents want to meet her too. It seems like the two really get each other - oh wait, that's because they say that a million times whenever they hang out. Jef's only (very valid) concern is that he knows he has a strong relationship with Emily but will he have a strong relationship with her daughter? Over dinner, they talk about where she'd live and she says Salt Lake City though it seems pretty clear that's not what she wants to do. He turns down the fantasy suite card at first, feeling that their families would be watching and they need to set a good example but when she tells him it's just to hang out for a while, he gladly obliges.

The last date goes to Arie, where he and Emily swim with the dolphins and make out. A lot. A LOT. Sure, they care about each other but sometimes, it feels more about chemistry than anything else. That issue is addressed over dinner, where Emily asks what the heck he does on a Tuesday night. The answer? Go to dinner with friends. He doesn't like to be home alone and prefers to be around people all the time. I don't know why that sets off a little red flag in my head but it does. Arie doesn't get the fantasy suite invitation at all because I think it's pretty obvious what would happen if these two were alone. Nope, he's sent on his way in the hopes of getting some REAL time alone with her another night.

Going into the rose ceremony, Emily is extremely emotional because she has three great guys and doesn't know how to get rid of one of them. Fair enough. This has been one of the best group of final three guys we've seen in Bachelorette history. She really could have a happy ending with each of them. The video messages from each guy only make it tougher but she pulls herself together enough to hand out some flowers.

The first rose goes to Jef, with the second going to Arie. Obviously. I started to feel Sean was out of luck last week during hometown dates but he certainly didn't see it coming. This damn show gets me every time towards the end. I just hate seeing people get their heart broken and a few tears flowed as they said goodbye to one another. Throw Sean into the Bachelor Pad! That'll help him get over things real quick.

Next week is The Men Tell All special - any bets on who takes the bigger verbal beating? Will it be Ryan or Kalon?

The Bachelorette airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
