The Voice Season 2: Live Finals Performances

by Todd Betzold

This is it folks...one last time for the Final Four to perform on The Voice with hopes of being crowned the winner of Season 2...who will win? Which coach will win? A repeat for Adam Levine?

It's all up to you America...no coaches votes tonight...whatever America votes decides the winner tomorrow...finally! Tonight, the singers will each sing one solo song and then sing a duet with their coach...then we will have a surprise at the end...what will it be?

Jermaine Paul (Team Blake) - "I Believe I Can Fly" by R Kelly
First performer of the night and within five words, I already have goosebumps. Jermaine looked all spiffy up there singing, but his voice was perfect for this song...an amazing performance. He had so much emotion with this song and the choir behind him gave so much to this performance. His runs were amazing and he just showed that he doesn't want to be a back-up singer anymore...he wants to win this thing! Christina said you sang so much soul...that song was made for you...you shined like a superstar tonight. Cee Lo said it was the perfect song choice...you look like a strong man with a beautiful voice. Adam said you're so powerful...we couldn't take our eyes off you...so elegant. Blake said he is speechless...I've listened to that song so many times, but I've never heard it until you sang it tonight.

The surprise tonight...each of the finalists will sing one of their coaches' songs as a tribute and thank you to them. Up first is Juliet Simms singing the Gnarls Barkley hit "Crazy." This was a little rough in spots, but it's only in good fun, so these don't count.

Chris Mann and Christina Aguilera - "The Prayer" by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli
Who could even pay attention to this song when Christina's boobs are flopping out of the front of the dress and he backfat is pushing through on the other side? Get it together Christina...you have looked good recently, but this is horrendous. The song is perfect for Chris and they do very well, but I think it's disgusting she wore that...calm it down a little girl...it's about Chris, not you!

Tony Lucca (Team Adam) - "99 Problems" by Jay-Z
I loved this...he took such a well-known song and totally made his own rendition of it. It had a rock/country feel to it and it was so fun and you could tell her was having fun on that stage...some more goosebumps to me. Blake said that was a lot of fun and what a cool version of that song. Christina said he sounded great, but the derogatory part of the song was inappropriate with his wife and daughter in the audience...yeah, he has a son. Cee Lo said it was hard...he liked it. Adam said it was not meant to be girls, but a metaphor for life and then they get into it and Adam rips off his overshirt to bare his "Team Xtina" t-shirt...such tension between the two. Christina clearly doesn't want Tony to win.

Now it is time for Chris to sing his tribute song to his coach, as he sings "The Voice Within." Kind of fitting for the show. This was a good song for him to sing...he does have a great voice, but is it enough to win against the other powerhouses left? Then Christina takes the stage and says he is a real man who respects women...making so much drama that isn't needed.

Juliet Simms and Cee Lo Green - "Born To Be Wild" by Steppenwolf
We all know Cee Lo can put a production together for the stage...this was one of them and it is so fun to watch. The song is a great choice for them...the rock for Juliet to shine at and they just had fun together singing, which is the point of the song not to throw your boobs out there for America to see...this is a class act Christina!

Tony Lucca and Adam Levine - "Yesterday" by The Beatles
These two have become close over this whole process...even a bromance forming between them, so win or lose, I think Tony will be seen on the road with Maroon 5 in the future. This was a good song choice and they sing well together...they have similar voices. It was simple and they worked well together.

It is Jermaine's turn to sing his tribute song to his coach, Blake Shelton. He sings Blake's hit song, "God Gave Me You." This is another fitting song and he sings the crap out of you...he definitely is showing us tonight that he deserves to win this all.

Chris Mann (Team Christina) - "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban
Okay, so apparently all the finalists want to win this thing...this was a perfect song choice for him...he totally could be the next Josh Groban. This was beyond amazing...his voice shined during this song and again, goosebumps for me and tears from Christina. Cee Lo said he is by far the most incomparable vocalist he has ever heard...you are so completely cool to me...if I ever fall in love again, please sing at my wedding. Christina said thanks for raising me up...you stood on your own and you let your voice shine...it was so beautiful...thank you.

Jermaine Paul and Blake Shelton - "Soul Man" by The Blues Brothers
They are funny together...they have formed a friendship over this whole thing and that comes out on the stage. They had fun during this performance and you got to see a different side of Jermaine, which could help him with the votes...so cool...I love Blake and his team.

Tony is last to sing his tribute song to his coach, as he sings "Harder To Breath" for Adam. This is a tough one to sing, so props to Tony for taking this one on. I enjoy Tony so much and I think it shows his versatility. And as Tony gives his thanks to Adam and then goes on to thank all four of the coaches we catch Christina on her phone...keep it classy Christina...follow the advice you preach.

Juliet Simms (Team Cee Lo) - "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
When you are good, you are good and Juliet is excellent! This was such a great choice of song for her and she shined. She just let loose and showed off her vocal abilities. Adam said what you do is so incredible...no one sings like you. Christina said she killed and is amazing. Cee Lo said with Juliet Simms on my team I have no problems.
