RealityWanted's American Idol Season 11

by Todd Betzold

With two songs each, the Top 5 took on songs from the 1960s and British pop last night on American Idol...some of them are in it to win it and others just annoy or bore me (anyone agree with me on that one?), but alas, someone must go home tonight and here are my thoughts.

First up, the performances from last night: who else is completely bored with Phillip Phillips? Who else is completely annoyed by Joshua Ledet and his constant need to scream his way through a song? Don't get me wrong, I think they are both talented singers, but Phillip does the same thing every week and it has gotten more and more boring as we get closer to the finale. Joshua has an amazing voice...when he tones it down and isn't screaming into my ear. I have been back and forth with this guy all season and right now, I am not feeling him...he screamed his way through both performances, but of course, the judges praised him and gave him another standing ovation and practically handed him the crown as champion...I don't know if J-Lo could be any further up his you know what with how much she praises him every week. Is he talented? Yes. One of the best singers of the past 50 years and compare him to James Brown? Hell no.

I was impressed with the girls last night....they are in it to win it and break this four-season winning streak the guys are on. I am in love with Skylar Laine...she has a stage presence that just blows me away every time she gets up there to sing. Her CCR song had so much energy and then she came out and sang Dusty Springfield with so much emotion. Her vocals are amazing and she deserves a trip to the finals. Hollie Cavanagh came out swinging (pun intended) with her Ike and Tina Turner song and I liked her for a moment, but then she took on Leona Lewis and it felt emotionless to me until the end, but of course, the judges praised her and showed how much they want a Hollie/Joshua finale. Now to Jessica Sanchez...this girl has a powerful voice and brought it last night. She worked it out in "Proud Mary" and then showed how powerful her voice is in "You Are So Beautiful." She looked beautiful last night and sounded even better.

Now to the bottom three tonight...with only five singers left, I think each singer eliminated now is a "shocker." I may shock you with my pick tonight though. The bottom three tonight will be: Skylar Laine, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez. Don't get me wrong, I want a Skylar and Jessica finale and think they both should be there, but I don't know if it will happen. Jessica has been bottom before and I worry about her gaining votes. Skylar has been bottom three a couple times and I worry about her too. Elise Testone was eliminated last week and I am thinking (and hoping) her votes are going to go to Skylar, so she will be the first one sent back to the couches. That leaves us with Jessica and Phillip...who would have thought? After dragging it out, Ryan Seacrest will announce that the person leaving us tonight will be...Phillip. That's right, he will be going home tonight. He has been boring and he made a big announcement last night...his girlfriend was in the audience rooting him on. Oh snap, those girls that thought he was so cute and were voting for him just got majorly ticked off...he has a girlfriend? I don't have a chance with him? No votes for Phillip and he is sent home!

Do you think I am crazy? Who do you think will be the bottom three tonight? Who will go home?
