RealityWanted's American Idol Season 11

by Todd Betzold

With two shocking result weeks in a row on American Idol, I don't even know what to predict for the elimination show tonight...will it or won't it finally be time for Hollie Cavanagh to go home or did the song choices of Elise Testone hurt her and she will go home or will we be shocked again as America votes to send Phillip Phillips home?

Last night's episode was a hit and miss for me....most of the singers had one song that I absolutely loved and then the other song was just decent to me. All these singers left in the competition can sing...I mean come on now, it is Top 6 of American Idol, but at this point in the competition I am looking for a wow moment...something to make me want to pick up my phone and vote for that singer. I'm a watcher of the show...a lover of American Idol...a writer for RealityWanted, but one thing I am not...a voter for American Idol. After last week's results, I guess I should of picked up the phone this week and voted...I swear, if Skylar Laine goes home someone else will have to start writing these recaps because I am done with Idol for Season 11.

Let's discuss last night...the singers took on songs from Queen and then they had the option of picking a song of their choice. I was thinking, this should be exciting...they get to choose the song, so some amazing performances are bound to happen...not so much. My likes this week...Jessica Sanchez and Skylar Laine. Jessica just blew my mind away...I thought both her songs were very strong and she showed so much emotion and her voice is flawless...love this girl, but I finally got what everyone has been saying...she sings songs not appropriate for her age. I am so mesmerized by her voice, I miss the lyrics sometimes. Last night's second song, she sang the lyric, "Back when I was a child," well, at the age of 16, she is still a child...I can see how people aren't fans, but I love her and she will be safe tonight. To be honest, I was not a fan of Skylar during the auditions and Hollywood Week, but each week she wins me over more and more. Country singers have always done well on Idol and I think she is going to go far, especially with performances like last night...so good.

Now for the bad...all the rest of them. I am not saying they were all terrible, but the rest didn't do anything special for me...or did it for one song and then lost it on the other one. I love me some Elise and she rocked it out on her Queen song, but then fell way short on her Jimi Hendrix song....you can choose any song and you chose that...you can do better Elise. Joshua Ledet, even though he got standing ovations from the judges on both songs, did not wow me. His Queen song was nothing special and seemed like he was screaming way too much for me to enjoy it, but then he comes out on his second song and tones it down and showed off that voice I can love from him. Phillip did nothing special for me, as well. I think he is amazing, but his performances were boring to me last night...it was the same thing he normally does and no wow moments in them...he is getting overshadowed by the girls right now and needs to go big next week, if he gets the chance. Hollie was just being Hollie to me...I thought she did great on the first song and showed some emotion, but then the second song went downhill for me...I just expect more emotion when singing "The Climb."

So, my picks for bottom three tonight...Elise, Hollie and Phillip. In my eyes, these were the three weakest performers last night. Phillip, for sure, is a favorite to win it all, but he can't win when he sings the way he did last night...step it up! Ryan will send Elise back to safety first...let's add to the drama of the shocking results the past couple weeks and keep Phillip on the stage. That leaves us with Phillip and Hollie in the bottom two. After some drama, Ryan will send Phillip back to safety and going home tonight is Hollie. This is my third week in a row of predicting Hollie as the one going home...third time is the charm?

Do you agree with me? Who do you think will be in the bottom three? Who is your choice to go home? Tell me your thoughts in the comment section!
