American Idol Season 11

by Todd Betzold

All season long on American Idol, I have been wanting to see DeAndre Brackensick sent home. I have picked him in my predictions and I was always wrong. Last week, I felt he did a decent job and the judges were singing his high praises, so I thought he would slide through, yet again, and I didn't pick him...my predictions were wrong and he was sent home.

Here we are again...another week of performances under our belt...this time by the remaining seven singers as they took on songs from 2010 to today. This can be a hard week for many of the singers because taking on a current song that everyone knows and can relate to can either hurt or help a singer...for most of them, it helped. Skylar Laine went back to her country roots with a Kellie Pickler song that she sang very well...Colton Dixon sat behind a piano and put on a raw and subtle performance and was amazing yet again...Elise Testone came back stronger than ever when she took on a Lady Gaga song after her bad performance last week.

Those were the good....now for the bad. I was not a fan of Joshua Ledet's performance of "Runaway Baby" by Bruno Mars...he sang it well (obviously, the judges gave him a standing ovation), but I prefer him singing a ballad and showing off those vocals...it just lacked something for me. These next two did amazing in my eyes, but received bad reviews from the judges...Hollie Cavanagh and Phillip Phillips. For Hollie, I thought she sang her Pink song beautifully, but Steven said she wasn't perfect to him, however Randy said she did do better than last week. For Phillip, I think the standards are so high for him that he must step it up every week (I thought his performance was great) and the judges felt he did not do that this week...Jennifer said she was underwhelmed, Randy didn't think it was a wow kind of moment, but Steven told him to keep winning.

So, who will be your bottom three tonight and will the judges finally use the save they have been holding onto all season? Here are my choices for bottom three (in no particular order): Phillip Phillips, Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine. WHAT? Yeah, I went and said it...Phillip will be in the bottom three. Does he deserve to be there? Hell no. Will he go home? Hell no. The judges thought he had a bad week and to spice it up and make more drama then needs to be, they will have Phillip in the bottom three but he will go back with the other singers first...no need to make it that dramatic, but remember...vote, vote, vote next week. So, that will leave us with Skylar and Hollie in the bottom two. Does Skylar deserve to be there? Hell no. Will she go home? Hell no. She sang first last night and I think that some voters tend to forget the first signer as the two hours drag on and on. She will be safe, so that means Hollie is in danger of going home tonight. She will sing for her life and she will do an amazing job at it (I think she has a strong voice), but the judges have been so hard on her the past few weeks and she has been in the bottom three for three weeks in a row now, so they will not use the save on her. Adios Hollie...until we see you again on the final show.

Do you agree with me? Who do you think will go home tonight? Leave me your comments below please...I want to hear from you all!
