The Voice Season 2

by Todd Betzold

After a look back at the performances from Team Adam and Team Cee Lo last night on The Voice, I think it's pretty clear...Team Cee Lo owned the night and he has a very strong team...Adam step it up, man.

I'll recap how it works: the three singers with the most votes on each team will be safe and move on. The bottom three singers from each team will get one more chance to sing for their coaches and the coaches get to save one...they will move on and the other two will be packing their bags and heading home...got it?

After a performance by Jessie J (a coach for The Voice UK) joined by Team Christina, we get one more look at Team Adam. Now time for the results...the three artists that are safe: Mathai (I saw this one coming...I'm not a fan, but people like her), Tony Lucca (that was a given...Justin Timberlake's endorsement must have helped him) and Pip (duh again, he's cute and the girls were out there voting for him). So, that leaves Kim Yarbrough, Katrina Parker and Karla Davis to sing one more time for Adam to prove that they deserve to be there.

Now one more look at Team Cee Lo (this one is going to be hard because he has a very strong team) before we get to the results...the three artists safe: Juliet Simms (loved her performance...second only to Jamar's performance), Jamar Rogers (love this one...he is a great guy and awesome performance) and James Massone (a cute one again and he worked the girls last night and they voted for him). So, that leaves Cheesa, Tony Vincent and Erin Martin to sing one more time for Cee Lo.

Now time for the performances to sing for their lives...up first, Team Adam:

Kim Yarbrough - "Spotlight" by Jennifer Hudson
I love this lady and think she is an amazing singer. I thought she did amazing last night, but here she is in the bottom three. She sings this song very well, but seemed to have no emotion going for her...show Adam you want to be here.

Karla Davis - "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt
She is a country singer, but went with a pop song last night and it hurt her. Tonight, she goes back to country and I liked it. She was still quiet and seemed to be holding back some, but I'm sure her nerves played into that...it's a huge moment for her, but it was an excellent performance.

Katrina Parker - "Don't Speak" by No Doubt
This one started slow for me and it got better as it went on. I have been a fan of her all season, but I just was not feeling this one from her. I expect more when you are one step from the end.

Now time for Adam to choose someone, but first let's hear who the other coaches would pick. Blake and Christina said Karla and Katrina had more urgency and wanted it more and would pick Katrina. Cee Lo gave props to all of them, but would pick Katrina as well. Adam says they all should be proud of where they are at right now, but he picks Katrina, so Kim Yarbrough and Karla Davis are heading home.

Now time for Team Cee Lo:

Tony Vincent - "Sweet Dreams" by Eurythmics
This is totally his element and he sang it very well. He was into it and I enjoyed it. I think it is going to be a battle between him and Cheesa, because I am still shocked Erin Martin is still in this competition.

Cheesa - "All By Myself" by Celine Dion
I loved her performance last night and tonight was even better...she just gave me goose bumps. She looked beautiful and sounded even more beautiful. This is the kind of performance someone needs to put on when facing elimination. She laid it all on the line and had emotion behind it and hit a note that seemed to last forever, yet I never wanted it to end...get it girl!

Erin Martin - "Your Song" by Elton John
I can't take it...she has no vocal ability. She took an Elton John song and totally massacred it. This was so bad...I can never understand one word she sings and this was no different. How did she win the battle round Cee Lo?

Now time for Cee Lo to make his decision, but first the other coaches' opinions...Adam is pissed because they did so great and why is it just now they came out? Blake agrees and they both would pick Cheesa. Christina said Cheesa knocked that note out of the water and she would pick her. It's up to Cee Lo and he loves them all...his mind says Tony, but his heart says Cheesa, so she is safe and Tony and Erin will be going home tonight.

To sum it up, moving on for Team Adam are Mathai, Tony Lucca, Pip and Katrina Parker and for Team Cee Lo are Juliet Simms, Jamar Rogers, James Massone and Cheesa.
