The Voice Season 2

by Todd Betzold

The battle rounds are done on The Voice and it is time for the singers to go live! With 24 singers left, the singers will battle each other as they fight for the votes of America now in hopes of being named Season 2 winner of The Voice.

Tonight, it will be Team Christina and Team Blake singing for us tonight and next week we will see Team Adam and Team Cee Lo. First we get some words from the judges...Christina is looking good and maybe a little skinnier, Cee Lo is wearing some crazy wig and Adam with his shaved head.

Jermaine Paul - "Living On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi
I think Jermaine is amazing, but I do not like him singing this song. He does a decent job singing it, but I just was not feeling it from him. Christina did not understand the song choice and she could have done some amazing things with him, but he did milk the chances he had with the song. Blake said the girls will like him singing that song and we will see it in the Top 10 of iTunes.

Chris Mann - "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon & Garfunkel
Chris was one of the singers I was worried about...how could his opera-style transcend over to the live shows? Well, with this song choice and his amazing voice, it went over beyond amazing. He put his opera twist into this song and I loved it. Cee Lo and Adam both loved it and were impressed. Christina thought it was beautiful and he made it his own...he made it unique and special.

RaeLynn - "Wake Up Call" by Maroon 5
For being the youngest singer in the competition, I think she looks like one of the most comfortable people on that stage. She was very aggressive and owned the stage. It's tough taking on a song by one of the judges and a pop song singing it in her country tone, but she had fun doing it and I liked it and I like her sass. Adam said she broke his heart twice...once when she didn't pick him and now when she sang his song and sang it so darn good. Blake said she is the face of what country music is going to be.

Moses Stone - "Stronger" by Kanye West
Cee Lo said it was a nice choice and appreciates his stage presence...he's a natural on stage. Adam said there's no doubt he is an entertainer. Blake said she is already making a difference for you...he can hear the difference in his vocals. Christina loves the way he raps and it's not auto-tuned like on the radio.

Naia Kete - "Turning Tables" by Adele
Ohhhh...it's always tough when someone takes on Adele, but she has a very unique voice and it might work for her, but Blake suggests she sings it regular and get away from her reggae tone. She was very soft-spoken with some of the lyrics, like she was losing her breath, but I loved it. Christina said she wanted to her more of the reggae side of things. Blake said she wanted to prove she is more than reggae and she proved it...he thought it was awesome.

Lindsey Pavao - "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye
I am not familiar with the original rendition of this song, but I love Lindsey's version of it. She has that unique voice as well and I think this song or version of this song was very fitting for her. Adam loves that song and liked it, but he missed the strength when the chorus kicked in. Christina loved that she brought he own unique style and thought where can I buy her record...it's amazing what you can do on a record.

Jordis Unga - "Alone" by Heart
During the battle rounds, she got stuck in her own head and barely made it to the live shows...she now wants to redeem herself with this song. I think she did just that with a very good vocal performance and command of the stage. Cee Lo loves her stage presence and he loved it. Blake said she took the hardest parts of that song and performed it on the stage...it's amazing.

Sera Hill - "Find Your Love" by Drake
She tried to bring out the diva in her and bring that to the stage. With that, I think she looks amazing and beautiful and very much a diva. I think she did decent, but I did not like the song choice for her...the shirtless men on stage helped get me through it. Blake said he couldn't get past the male strippers on the stage. Christina said she looks like a diva-in-training and sounded amazing...great job.

Erin Willett - "Living For The City" by Stevie Wonder
She starts out at the piano, but gets up and works that stage. I think she did an amazing job and with everything going on on that stage, I can see her on Broadway...great job. Cee Lo said she has great charisma and stage performance. Blake said it was technically and passionately the best vocal performance of the night.

Ashley De La Rosa - "Right Through You" by Alanis Morissette
This was her breakout song and chance to show the real side of her...I think she did well and has a very good voice, but I'm not the biggest fan...I think there are better singers in the competition. Adam said by far she is the most improved he has seen...my opinion has changed so much for you with this performance. Christina said she brought it up there and she loved that she got to rock it out to a song she loved.

Charlotte Sometimes - "Misery Business" by Paramore
She is trying to show off her more serious side with this song choice and I personally want to see the fun side come back. I liked this performance at certain points, but I wasn't a huge fan of it...she got better as the song went on. Adam said it was great and that she has a unique voice and she was flat at points. Christina was surprised with the performance and it was dramatic and big at the points where it needed to be big. Blake didn't hear the pitch points and thought it was dead on.

Jesse Campbell - "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong
I am not a fan of the song choice, but he shows why he chose it. Cee Lo said his voice is almost as beautiful as his hair...if no one from his team wins, he wants him to win. Adam said he is the one you have to beat. Christina said you are fantastic...he could sing the phone book and aren't you glad you have the only sober coach up here...the rest were tipping back a few?
