The Celebrity Apprentice Season 5

by Todd Betzold

Do you think to yourself: Man, I wish I could see more of The Celebrity Apprentice each week? Well, your thoughts have been answered as NBC airs a three-hour special with double the tasks and double the firings.

As usual, the winning project manager presents their check to their charity...Clay brings the $50,000 in checks to present to his charity, National Inclusion Project. Now to the first task this week: design their own celebrity guide book to NYC. Each team will photograph, write and design their celebrity guide books and then they will sell those books and the team that makes the most money on their book wins. The project managers are: Teresa for the women and Dee for the men. The winning manager will not only get the money raised by both teams, but also an added bonus from Toshiba (for the best guide book), whose cameras they are using for the project.

Teresa says it is all about bringing in the most money (duh), so she is trying to get everyone to bring in their big guns so she can win for her charity and we all know the celebs want to save their big guns for their own projects they manage. The men are throwing out ideas for pictures, with Penn leading the ideas and Dee agreeing with them all. This upsets Clay and he thinks the pictures will all be the same.

The women head out to shoot photos for a few hours and meet back at 3:00 p.m. to work on the graphic design. Debbie and Lisa go out together (Debbie is on phone and has already gotten $17,500 in donations), while Teresa, Dayana and Aubrey go out. Debbie and Lisa are moving quickly, while the others are moving very slowly. The men, meanwhile, go to the top of Trump Towers to take their pictures from different views of the city.

So, Debbie and Lisa get back in time to meet the graphic designer at 3:00 p.m. Well, 3:30 p.m. rolls around and the others are not back yet, so Debbie calls them and they still have three places they need to go. They tell them to get back now or they won't have a book since the designer will not wait all night. They make it back and the designer starts getting their pictures together (which she says Teresa, Aubrey and Dayana have a ton of pictures). Then Debbie asks if they have signage for the kiosk where they will be selling...nope. Teresa feels she is setting her up for failure and doesn't take that lightly. Debbie and Aubrey go out shopping to spruce up the kiosk.

Now the men are on their phones trying to get friends to donate money to their books. Arsenio gets Jay Leno on the phone and he says he will send Arsenio a blank check and he writes in the amount that he needs, but don't go overboard...this should help the men tremendously.

The women are trying to go through all the pictures they took and the claws come out. Lisa is angry with how many pictures they took and Dayana is not backing down to her. Dayana wants subway directions to be included in the guide book, but there is no time for that. Dayana keeps talking and Lisa keeps telling her to shut up. Lisa breaks down in tears off camera saying she needs to develop a brain and a talent and then someone will take you seriously...someone is a little stressed out right now.

It's the day of selling for the teams...both teams have good crowds and are selling the books for $5, but the big donors are the ones who will win it for them. Michael Andretti, even though he got fired a few weeks ago, comes back and buys a book for $20,000...then the amounts start rolling in...$25,000...$15,000...everyone is bringing in money but Arsenio...the check from Jay is out on some truck and lost.

Now the women start get some big money rolling in...$10,250...$8,000...$1,500...$5,000 from Jeff Foxworthy. Meanwhile, Teresa's big money people aren't coming through for her...she is on phone and telling them not to be late. It is key for her to bring in big money as project manager.

Teller and The Blue Man Group come to the men's kiosk and Teller donates $20,000. The Blue Man Group has these balloon guns that shoot money out of and it goes everywhere...the crowd starts racing around grabbing it. Clay freaks out because people are keeping the money when it should be for charity...Clay got kicked and hit and he hates that Penn had an idea for money and not caring what happens to get it.

Dayana brings in a huge check for the women...$17,500. Teresa's husband arrives and brings checks from their friends...it totaled over $20,000, so she is feeling safe. There are five minutes left to sell and Arsenio's check has not arrived...it is on the way, but the lady is stuck in traffic right by their location...60 seconds and no check...sales closed and no check. She arrives shortly after, but it is too late. If they lose, count Arsenio out because he had no money come in for donations. Trump meets with the judge of the guide books, Regis Philbin...love him. They discuss the books and he picks out a winner.

Now time for the first boardroom...after Lisa goes after Dayana and saying she does nothing and her, Aubrey and Debbie (the last couple weeks) do 90% of the work. It then goes into a big catfight between Debbie and Teresa because Debbie says she was a bad leader and Teresa is slapping the table and says Debbie is unprofessional coming into a board room with her boobs hanging out (but of course she used different words)...that's classy and professional.

Trump tells them Regis looked over the books and he liked the women's book better, so Toshiba will donate $35,000 to the women's team, which is added to their team total. He goes to the men's team and they get into it about the Blue Man Group and how Clay got trampled on and they lost a significant amount of that money...they came with $8,000 for the charity, but Penn and Dee feel it wasn't their money to lose.

There was hundreds of thousands of dollars raised total by both groups and the difference between the winning and losing team was $14...kind of amazing. Now that money brought by the Blue Man Group that went flying everywhere and was lost could play a huge factor right now if they do lose. The total raised by the teams...for the women, they raised $127,855 plus the $35,000 bonus from Toshiba, so a grand total of $162, 855...for the men, they raised $162,869...they won by $14. So, Dee gets over $326,000 for his charity.

This boardroom is about to get super ugly...the women are going to get nasty. It's going to get ugly between Debbie and Teresa. Debbie says he should fire Teresa for the disorganization and Lisa raising more money for her...for the weakest player, she says Dayana. She says the weakest player should be the one who brought out in the least amount of money since this task was about raising money...that person would be Aubrey. Teresa decides to bring back Debbie and Dayana, which may have been stupid since Aubrey brought in the least amount of money...could come back to hurt Teresa for not bringing back Aubrey.

Teresa says that Debbie is hard to manage and she is maybe talented at singing...in the 1980s lol. Dayana is flying under the radar. Debbie says that Dayana should not be in the boardroom this time...foot in the mouth. I think despite how this is going Dayana will be fired...she's been here too many times to not get fired. Teresa says Debbie is a team player when she wants to be. Trump says she should have brought back Aubrey since she raised the least amount of money, so since Debbie is the one who raised the least amount of money of the three in the boardroom she is fired.

Back in the room, Aubrey tries to start some drama with the men and they are glad to not have her on their team...soon that will change because we all know that will change. Before we get to the next task, Dee gets to present his winning check to his charity, March of Dimes.

Now time for the next task: with the women having lost 5 of the 7 challenges, Trump is switching up the teams. He is breaking up Lisa and Aubrey because they are too nice to each other. He puts Aubrey and Teresa with Paul, Clay and Arsenio for Team Unanimous. On the other team, it is Lisa and Dayana joining Lou, Dee and Penn for Team Forte. The teams are at the East 54th Street Rec Center and executives from Walgreens have joined them. The task: they will create a live, interactive health segment to promote the benefits of walking and the ease of the Walk With Walgreens program to a live audience and they will create a new design for the Walk With Walgreens membership kit. They will be judged on brand messaging, Walk With Walgreens membership kit design and overall presentation. The project managers this task are Lou and Arsenio and the winning teams will win $50,000 ($20,000 from Trump and $30,000 from Walgreens).

Team Forte comes back and Penn says he will be flying out for a show at 2:00 pm and back in the morning. Lou was concerned if Penn will be able to come back and be good onstage without enough time to rehearse. The Walgreens executives come in to talk with the team. They want to promote a pro-active lifestyle...Lisa is the person who they want to reach lol. Lou told them his story of having his knees and hips replaced and how he got joy out of walking...the executives seemed to like the story and Lou felt encouraged.

Team Unanimous meets to brainstorm...Aubrey throws out an idea, but Arsenio wants to wait to meet with the executives. They want it to be fun to walk. Back to Team Forte, Penn suggests they come up with other ideas people can do while walking...they write down ideas. Dayana says they can have people onstage walking. Lou wants to be the host, but Penn wants one of the three public speakers as host...Lou wants to be host and as project manager he has final say.

Team Unanimous comes up with a game show theme...Paul, Teresa and Aubrey will be contestants, Clay will be announcer and Arsenio will be host. Aubrey decides their faces should be on the membership kit, so they will take pictures at Walgreens. Aubrey is taking control of this task...is Arsenio project manager? Now Penn, one of the strongest players this task for Team Forte, has to leave for his show...Lisa is scared. Dee and Dayana start working on the membership kit. Donald Jr. comes to check them out and Dee is talking up Dayana...Lisa wants to puke.

Aubrey comes up with Face Reality: Walk With Reality...put a close-up shot of all of them on the membership kit with a quote on it. Eric Trump comes in and Aubrey is running the show and she even admits it...awkward.

Team Forte comes up with the theme: Walk and Do It All. They start writing down all ideas you can do while walking...Dayana doesn't like them all being negative. They go rehearse their segment and Lisa is running the show...Lou is a mess and Lisa is wrangling him in. Meanwhile, Aubrey is designing the membership kit and putting quotes on them...she chooses a picture Arsenio doesn't want a quote he doesn't like. Lou and Dayana go out to get a bathing suit for Dayana, so Lisa and Dee have some time to talk. Lisa tries to get Dee to hate on Dayana, but with no success.

Time for the segments...up first is Team Forte. The Walgreens executives come in with Alison Sweeney, host of The Biggest Loser. Lou starts out with a very heartfelt monologue...he worked it out. The segment was going very well until Penn said Wal-Mart instead of Walgreens...a big oopsie. Dayana made a joke and saved the day. It seemed to go very well, but the executives did not like the packaging for the membership kit...too many words behind it with negative meanings.

Now it is time for Team Unanimous...they give out colored shirts to audience members to represent the teams...a good way to get them involved. They seemed to provide more information and some heartfelt messages, but the other teams' presentation seemed more enjoyable. The executives thought it was more fact-based and not so much focused on the program itself.

Time for the boardroom: they get to look at each other's boxes and that sends Arsenio off into a tizzy. Aubrey takes ownership of the membership kit and Arsenio hates how she is selfish. Arsenio is very frustrated...now they all start coming at her. Clay and Arsenio are coming after her and having to massage her and make things run smoothly. They all say to fire Aubrey because she is not a team player.

The winning team is Team Unanimous...so, not fighting between Arsenio and Aubrey now, but that team is a mess right now...Aubrey hates them all and doesn't want to be around all the negativity and doesn't know if this is the right place for her...will she be leaving? Arsenio breaks down in the boardroom and continues it back in the hotel room...he is very glad to win.

Now time for Team Forte to fight it out...Lou doesn't feel he should be fired, but Dee should be fired. Dee designed the box and the executives hated the box, so he might be hurting. They all say fire project manager, but Lisa says bring back Dayana and Lou...which starts their arguments. Lou decides to bring back Dayana and Dee, which with Penn's mistake of saying Wal-Mart he could have been fired for that. Back in the war room, Aubrey is still not present and no one knows where she is...Arsenio is still going off about her...if she comes back, this team will not be working together very well next week.

I think it is going to be Lou fired this week, but we shall see what Trump does. Trump questions why they keep bringing Dayana back...she did save the day with Penn's mistake of saying Wal-Mart. Dee designed the box and they hated the box and Lou said the box could have been better, but he approved everything before it was done. Trump says Dayana should not be here, but Penn should be here. Dee said Lou needs guidance with everything. Trump says the executives loved Lou's testimonial at the beginning of the presentation. Since they hated the box design and Dee designed the box, Trump fires Dee.
