Heejun Han from American Idol Season 11

by Todd Betzold

Heejun Han brought out his serious side this week on American Idol, but America wasn't feeling it and he was voted off the show. His personality will definitely be missed on the show, but I think big things are in the cards for Heejun. Today, he spoke with RealityWanted and other reporters in a conference call about the Idol Mansion, Jennifer Lopez, a possible TV show and much more.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: You were only there one week, but what was it like living in the Idol Mansion with all the other contestants?
A. Heejun: The house itself is humongous...I'm talking about like the biggest house in this whole world. It literally took me like 20 minutes to find my own room and we have our movie theater. It was really fancy and overwhelming, but at the same time, ironically, I was kind of sad because I was hoping we could have this kind of circumstance at all the buildings and the fancy stuff with my kids. That was the one thing I was kind of sad about, but I had fun.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: Jennifer Lopez was a huge fan of yours throughout the season. Did you get a chance to talk to her after the show...did she say anything to you?
A. Heejun: She came up to me after the show with the teary eyes and she was trying to convince Steven, but I lost...only her vote counts (to me).

Q. Last week you were fun and you were safe...this week you were serious and you got voted off. Do you have a theory on what the voters actually wanted from you?
A. Heejun: I have no idea...you guys voted George Bush for a second time, so I have no idea what you guys are doing. All the joking aside, everyone has different tastes...I can't please everyone, so I'm just happy I made it this far.

Q. I wanted to talk to you about what Randy was talking to you about the sitcom. What exactly did he tell you?
A. Heejun: Word goes out really fast. He grabbed me and said, dude, you are a great singer, but dog, you have to be in a sitcom. And I said, well, Randy, I just got voted off a singing competition and that's a lot of pressure to give me...that's it.

Q. Is that something that you would actually want to do?
A. Heejun: Of course...I'm not going to be picky. I really want to make something of this regardless if it's a sitcom, movie...if they are willing to work with me, I'll do it.

Q. So if Fox were to give you your own sitcom, what would the premise be?
A. Heejun: It would be an Asian guy trying to win out a pretty, pretty, pretty blonde girl.

Q. To the criticism that you were not taking the competition seriously...were you?
A. Heejun: That's a no-brain question...if I didn't take this competition seriously I wouldn't have tried out in the first place...hours and hours of auditions and rehearsals and all the hard work.

Q. At this point, if you could only bet on person to win...who would it be?
A. Heejun: At this point, since I didn't make it through the competition...I hope no one will win (laughs).

Q. What made you choose the Donny Hathaway song last night? What about it stuck out to you?
A. Heejun: I like the lyrics...it says I've been singing to 10,000 people but I'm standing in front of you. It was really saying I've been in this competition singing in front of millions and millions of people and now I really want to show my appreciation for the people who have supported me. Maybe I knew it was going to be my last week.

Q. When are you going back to New York and going to work with your kids?
A. Heejun: I'm going back Sunday this week. I'm having press until Thursday, so I might have to see them next week.
