Pip from The Voice Season 2

by Todd Betzold

Pip was a wanted man during the blind auditions on The Voice, as all four judges turned around and fought for him to be on their team. He decided to join Team Adam and last week he took down Nathan Parrett in the battle rounds and now he is preparing for the live shows, which start next week. Today, he talked with RealityWanted in an exclusive interview about his coach, Adam Levine, a special message to his fans and much more.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What made you want to audition for The Voice?
A. Pip: My best friend's brother actually saw a commercial for the auditions and was like hey, you should go try out for that...so, I did and I'm rubbing it in his face for sure. That was definitely the reason.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: You were one of the singers that had all four coaches turn around for you doing the blind auditions. What made you choose Adam over the three other coaches?
A. Pip: He kind of sold himself the best. I mean, he was the first one to turn around, obviously, but he also made me believe that he knew where he wanted to go with me and he convinced me that he could make me win...he could help me win.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What has it been like working with him so far this season as your coach?
A. Pip: Incredible...he's an amazing artist, an amazing person, great sense of humor, but when he gets down to business he is all business and I love that about him. It's been great...I don't regret my decision for a second how amazing he has been through this whole process.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: And what was it like working with Alanis Morissette as a mentor during the battle round?
A. Pip: She is an incredible person. She is just so nurturing...as soon as you walk in the room, she just makes you feel good. She has this aura about her that's just incredible. She was great to work with...I'm glad I got that opportunity.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: You seemed to be a heavy favorite to win going into your battle with Nathan Parrett. Did that seem to help you or make it harder as far as preparing for your battle?
A. Pip: People saw me as a favorite, but especially working with Adam with him (Nathan)...Adam straight up told us, this is a clean slate...if he does better, he does better. It was stressful...Nathan and I are really good friends, so it was stressful, but in the end it was just came down to getting out there and doing what my best and it didn't matter what Nathan. It was just what I did on that stage and making that song be a good song.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What are you most excited about for the live shows?
A. Pip: Just how the performances grow...the production value on the show has gone up from last year. The performances are going to be awesome and incredible and I'm very excited about that.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What kind of album would you like to create, if given the chance, once The Voice is done?
A. Pip: I'm really into right now, like Florence & The Machine, The Killers and One Republic...sort of like a rock-pop album, for sure.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: Is there anything you would like to say to your fans?
A. Pip: Thank you...it's been a crazy, crazy journey and I wouldn't be anywhere without them. I have the best fans ever...they're always tweeting me and trying to get me more followers...they've been incredible.
