The Celebrity Apprentice Season 5

by Todd Betzold

The Celebrity Apprentice has been on a streak of tasks of supposedly favoring one team over the other: the fashion task then the car task and now a task on cleaning...it just seems like Trump is going with a theme to lean towards one group over the other.

The men come back, down two men from the boardroom and it looks like Lou will be the project manager on the next challenge, whether he likes it or not. Debbie Gibson gets to deliver her $50,000 check from winning the task to her charity, Children International.

Time for the next task: they meet Trump at the New York Public Library. They must create an original theme to use in a viral video promoting O'Cedar's latest innovation, the ProMist Spray Mop. They will be judged on the original theme and viral video based on product integration, entertainment value and brand messaging. For the project manager, Lou steps up for the men and Tia steps up for the women (Aubrey avoids being project manager again stating the product has been around for 100 years, just like Tia...but we all know she will try to take control once the task gets started). The winning team's project manager will get $20,000 and $30,000 from O'Cedar.

The men start out having to explain to Paul what a viral video is...this should go well. Lou wants to take his shirt off and show off his muscles...yet again. The women are driving in the van and Dayana is screaming out bad idea after bad idea...which apparently is making Aubrey deaf in one ear.

The women meet with one of the O'Cedar executives and he says he wants the video fun and sexy...the women are intrigued and ask how sexy can they get? He says that is up to them. For the men, the executive says funny is fine as long as the product is the hero.

Lisa comes up with a "What's You Number?" theme and all the women like it except Patricia, but since Tia loved it she is being hush-hush about not liking it...right now. Each woman comes up with a story about the number of "mop" partners they've had. Dayana comes up with this sexy, very raunchy monologue that even Lisa thinks is inappropriate.

Lou wants to do a superhero theme and Penn strikes it down. Clay thinks Penn just works it for the boardroom and then gets frustrated that Penn is being condescending and just says no, no, no, but hasn't come up with a concept...Clay grew some balls and I am impressed. Paul comes up with the "I'm Gonna Mop The Floor With You" theme and they run with it.

The women seem to have Debbie, Aubrey and Lisa calling the shots and the others sitting back. Now Penn is being a sourpuss because Clay called him out and he is being whiny now. Clay and Arsenio are now determined to win it for Lou. Tia is refusing to listen to Aubrey, which makes her want to sock her in the face. As project manager, Tia is the one in charge and calls the shots...if you want to be in charge, step up Aubrey. She then gets Lisa to ask Tia to do the different angles and Tia agrees...oy vey.

Time to shoot the video for the men...Lou is struggling with the dialogue. He doesn't get it because he can't hear it, so Clay and Arsenio help him out with and he gets it down. Meanwhile, the women are shooting their video and Dayana isn't happy because they never mention the word "mop" in the script...then all the women start whispering behind Tia's back. None of them are working and none of them have faith in this project right now.

Back to the men and they start recording Lou doing some crazy dancing and flexing his muscles...for this task, I think he might actually pull it off. Eric Trump comes in and sees the men's team and he likes the energy they have right now. The teams have one day to shoot the video and edit it. Tia sits down and has an hour and a half to edit the video. Donald Trump, Jr. comes in and sees the women and enjoys the theme and wants to see it executed...he says the women seem happy, but you can sense the tension in the room.

Aubrey and Debbie are writing the script and Dayana has no part in it...this gets her upset and she wants to have some lines. This sets Lisa off because she is sick of the egos getting in the way and not everyone needs to be involved in every aspect of the task and goes off...no words from any of the women...kinda sad. Patricia says off-camera that Dayana has to start sticking up for herself or she will be gone.

Penn, apparently still upset about Clay saying he is condescending, confronts Clay about it...which Clay said to make his Mama proud he would have to smooth things over. Penn feels he is being set-up and Clay doesn't back down, which I like. Penn wants to be this god in the group and Clay ain't having it...good job! The women put Dayana in charge of ordering flowers and instead of ordering peonies she orders penis...good call for the video they shot!

Time for the men to present their videos...Lou gives the presentation and he does well. They seemed to enjoy the video and they are looking good right now. Now it is time for the women...they do a very good presentation and the video is very sexual. The executives of course like both and it is up in the air on which will win...the women had the star power, but the mop was not the hero. The men did well, but Lou was only one in video, so they questioned what the other men did.

Time for the boardroom: I think this is going to be a good one with Penn/Clay and Lisa/Dayana. The men have all love for each other and Trump gives Lou a good job for what he has done so far. The women get a little catty with each other...Lisa says Tia lacked on some things and Dayana says Debbie got stressed over too much. Lisa says that the most creative on the team are herself, Debbie and Aubrey and the rest give their talents when needed and Dayana is the least valuable member of team...and here we go.

The women go on fighting and we don't know even know if they have lost or not...I hate this. They do agree that they should win. Back to the men, Penn thinks they should win and thought Lou did a great job. Lou fights for why he only put himself in the video...he makes a good point and I like him this task. If they lose, Lou says he will bring back Paul and Penn.

Now time to talk about Penn...Lou says he doesn't work well as a team member and Clay says if Penn isn't in charge and the lead then he is condescending and if he is not then he disengages. After Trump kisses the ass of Arsenio and Clay we get to the results...after all the unnecessary fighting, the winner of this task are the men...now we get to the good stuff.

Bring out the claws women...Lisa is defending herself because she may be on the chopping block for being the creative person. She wants Dayana gone for having no ideas. Lisa says Dayana is distracting and derailing...Patricia defends her little sister. Aubrey then defends Lisa, but thinks Tia should be fired for being project manager. Patricia then says the weakest player is Teresa, who has kinda flown under the radar up until this point.

Aubrey calls out Tia and says she is 50-something, which she is 45...a big dig. She brings up the camera angle thing where Tia didn't do it until Lisa asked her to. Tia thinks they are a clique and it brings her back to high school. Tia asks if she takes responsibility for the task will he fire someone else as well like he did last week and Trump says no, so she steps up and Trump fires her.

Do you think Tia would have been fired still if she brought two women back to the boardroom with her?
