The rumors were true...one of the Top 12 have been eliminated from American Idol thanks to the cooperation of law enforcement, but is it for sure Jermaine Jones and will they bring back Jeremy Rosado? We'll find out later in the show.

 

Tonight's theme is songs from the year the finalist was born, so we will hear songs ranging from 1983 to 1995. Jimmy Iovine, with the help of will.i.am, will again mentor the Top 12 this week. We get to see baby pictures for

 

Phillip Phillips - "Hard To Handle" by The Black Crowes
He has kidney stones and had surgery right after his rehearsal...he is a trooper. He knocks it out of the park...I love this guy and his style. Randy said good song choice and he should do that as a single once this competition is over. Steven said he likes that he picks songs that match his voice and quality...very good.

Jessica Sanchez - "Turn The Beat Around" by Gloria Estefan
The powerhouse is speeding it up tonight with this dance song, will it work? It worked for me...she did awesome. It was fun and entertaining and nice to see a different side of her and her voice held strong. Steven said she can't stray too far from what she does best. Jennifer said not my favorite thing I've seen you do, but good job.

Heejun Han - "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx
Heejun did it for me tonight....he gave me goosies. This was an amazing performance and so touching and emotional...I loved it. I thought a good song choice for him. However, the judges not so much...Randy said it was pitchy throughout and wrong song/wrong time for him and not a good performance. Jennifer said she felt his heart in the song and loved it by the end.

Elise Testone - "Let's Stay Together" by All Green
I like this girl and I think this week she came out swinging...she was great and had fun on stage and looked comfortable. Steven said he loves her voice...it's a natural thing with the rasp and she's got beauty and soul and the voice behind it. Jennifer said that is showing America who Elise is to me...it was a beautiful thing.

DeAndre Brackensick - "Endless Love" by Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross
He came in wanting to sing "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" by Elton John, but Jimmy and Will tell him to switch it up to this song. This was an okay performance...I think he was just singing it and I didn't feel any emotion behind this one. Jennifer says he can sing anything, but she felt Jimmy and Will steered him in the wrong direction and hopes America looks past the song choice. Randy said it was too boring.

Shannon Magrane - "One Sweet Day" by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men
She struggled last week during Whitney week and now she takes on Mariah? Does she just want to be sent home? She tried hard and did a decent job, but no one compares to Mariah and I was bored by it. Jennifer said it was not an easy undertaking and she was terrified for her, but she thought it was beautiful. Randy said that she is fearless and that's what he loves about her.

Colton Dixon - "Broken Heart" by White Lion
No one knew the song, not even the band...he made it his own version and will.i.am thinks he'll nail it. It was good, but I had no clue what the song was either. I think he will move on, but he needs to do songs people can relate to. Jennifer said he is a lover and he looks pretty when he sings. Steven said he thinks it was the wrong song for his voice and his passion...he didn't feel the song go anywhere.

Erika Van Pelt - "Heaven" by Bryan Adams
She gets on that stage and makes it look effortless. I love her voice and the rock-edge to it...I loved it. Steven thought she was too much all over the place with it. Jennifer said the arrangement made us wanting more. Randy said he kind of liked it...it was an 8 out of 10 for me.

Time to find out that it was indeed Jermaine Jones that was kicked off the show. He did not disclose his criminal history and gave the cops two different names when he was arrested twice. He now has four warrants out for his arrest, so they must remove him from the show. They seemed to do some tribute to him and feel bad for him...he has four warrants out for his arrest and we are supposed to feel bad for him? And he sent the tweet yesterday saying he was off the show...this better of been right before he went to jail! Business as usual and someone will be eliminated tomorrow and form the Top 10 that will tour America.

 

Skylar Laine - "Love Sneakin' Up On You" by Bonnie Raitt
Jimmy and Will tried to talk her into singing another song, but she held her own and stuck with her original song...will it pay off? It was a good performance, but not near as fun as last week though. Jennifer said that she really killed it...you did your thing. Randy said it didn't matter about the song...she came out and rocked it.

Joshua Ledet - "When A Man Loves A Woman" by Michael Bolton
Again, I did not like this guy during Hollywood Week and now I have my second set of goosies tonight. He was so good and he took us to church again. Randy said that was phenomenal, incredible on every level. Jennifer said it is the best thing she has ever seen on American Idol...she's so excited right now. Steven said he gave it up so good, God came through his eyes.

Hollie Cavanagh - "The Power Of Love" by Celine Dion
She is keeping it on the power ballad track this week...will she outshine Jessica's performance from last week? She did an awesome job, but didn't come close to Jessica's performance last week. Steven said her voice is from heaven above. Randy said this song she blew it out of the box.
