Jordis Unga from The Voice Season 2

by Todd Betzold

The battle rounds have started on The Voice, which puts us that much closer to the live shows. Last week, we saw Jordis Unga and Brian Fuente fight it out for Blake's approval to move on to the live shows. Their performance seemed to disappoint Blake as he shook his head in disapproval. Blake sent Jordis on to the live shows and now she is determined to prove she deserves that spot. Today we got an exclusive interview with Jordis to talk about that determination and her message to her fans.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What made you decide to audition for The Voice?
A. Jordis: You know, it just sort of come up (laughs). I was available to do it and everything that I have ever done involves music, so it was a variously obvious next step to take for me and I'm so glad I did.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What is it like working with Blake as a coach?
A. Jordis: Oh, it's awesome...like, could he be anymore awesome? He's so funny and real and down-to-earth...Blake is amazing.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: On that same note, what was it like working with Miranda Lambert as a mentor during the battle round?
A. Jordis: Double awesome (laughs). Those two are so funny. Their demeanor is so disarming. They're hysterical and their advice to me what so heartfelt. They're just very real...they're the kind of people that I needed and wanted to be working with during a process like this.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: Blake said during the battle rounds the only thing that was going to get to you was your head and overthinking things and it seemed to happen in the battle round. How are you going to get past that in the live shows?
A. Jordis: Oh, I am past it...I am past it! It helps so much watching it back with everybody. I remember sitting there with Blake and Miranda thinking I need to get past this...I need to go to the live shows. I have to go further in this competition, so I am just thinking about the energy. You know, maybe I did get a little bit in my head, but I got past it. With all that said and done, I am prepared and ready to go live.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: What are you most excited for for the live shows?
A. Jordis: Oh, all of it...are you kidding? The show is huge right now...I have no idea what's going to happen...it's so exciting...guest performers and what. In my head, it's this huge, amazing thing I get to experience, so I'm just ready for anything and I'm so excited to perform again.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: Blake seemed a little disappointed in both you and Brian after your battle. Is it your mission now to prove to him he made the right choice to move you on to the live shows?
A. Jordis: Oh absolutely...absolutely. Prove to him...prove to everybody that I've still got it and I do. It's so scary...if I look nervous it's because it is so, so scary, but I am out of my head for the live rounds, so I'm just excited to perform for everybody.

Q. Todd, RealityWanted: Anything you want to say to your fans?
A. Jordis: My fans are my friends and I am so grateful to have people that have followed me throughout my journey. It's been lots of ups and downs, rocky and everything, but people have followed me and it means so much to me. I'm really doing this for everybody that has followed me for this long, so thank you, thank you, thank you...I love you guys. I can't wait to perform again.
