American Idol Season 11: Final Judgment

by Todd Betzold

The judges left us last week with only 42 singers and one step closer to a Top 24 on American Idol. Tonight, it's Judgment Day and we find out who made it and who was sent home.

So, the singers had one more solo to prove they deserve to be in Top 24 yesterday and now it is Judgment Day...so, two hours tonight and one hour tomorrow to go through 42 singers to get a Top 24? Dragging it out this long is going to be the death of me Fox!

Jen Hirsch: great singer, powerful voice, strong contender, one of my favorites...in Top 24.

Creighton Fraker: adopted, met birth Dad later in life and he happens to be a singer and inspires him to be a singer...in Top 24.

Lauren Gray: been struggle in her family, Dad's been trying to do this his whole life, so doing this for him, bluesy/smoky voice...did not make it.

Joshua Ledet: preacher's son, told this competition could take his great voice to the next level, very gospely voice...in Top 24.

We get some quick results: end of the road for Blaire Sieber and Naomi Gillies.

Haley Johnsen: college student, sings in coffee, sang strong in group performances, wanted to use this show to help break out of her silence...in Top 24.

Neco Starr: shot straight to the top throughout the competition, Jennifer is a big fan, wore American flag pants to find out if he made it...did not make it (shocked at this one).

Add to the list of being sent home: Clayton Farhat, River St. James and Caleb Johnson.

Elise Testone: struggling singer, works maybe 10 gigs a week, feels it in her heart this is her time...in Top 24.

Reed Grimm: whole life has been a dream to perform for the world, has a quirky charm, Mom and Dad had band and added kids to perform, said to be this season's Casey Abrams, played drums while singing, if he doesn't make it I will be very upset...in Top 24!

Erika Van Pelt: Steven said she is very sexy and very sure of herself, mobile deejay, Jennifer didn't like the sing choice for her final performance...in Top 24.

Chelsea Sorrell: small town girl who always had big dreams, wants to be a country singer, struggled with words in final performance, but they let her start over to get it right...in Top 24.

Baylie Brown: auditioned during Season 6 and now back after five years, country singer, matured with her music...in Top 24.

Richie Law: cowboy, bullheaded, talks crap about people to the camera, but loves them to their face, not here to recycle music, but to make it...was sent home.

Heejun Han: Jennifer loves him, he's got a fun/funny personality, weird/unique voice, works with special needs kids, one of my favorites...in Top 24...he cried/I cried!

Jessica Sanchez: has an undeniable spark, started watching Idol when she was 5 years old and is now trying out, 16 year old student, family sacrificed a lot for her music career...in Top 24.

Phil Phillips: forgot words in the group performance, pawn shop worker, plays guitar, Randy said he's a true artists and so unique and different...in Top 24.

Colton Dixon: auditioned with his sister last year and was cut on Judgment Day, wasn't going to audition this year, but judges talked him into it, sister was cut a few days ago and dedicated his final performance to her...this year, he's in the Top 24.

Brielle Von Hugel: Mom is always with her, auditioned last year, but she was cut in Hollywood, very demanding, I am not a fan...in Top 24.

Adam Brock: has wife and a beautiful baby daughter, he says he's white chocolate with soul, Jennifer said we still have to figure out who he is, breaks down crying when he goes in front of the judges, said he needs to sing, Randy said their choice is not unanimous...and we leave it up in the air...we'll find out tomorrow...darn you Fox!!!

After one night, we have 14 of the Top 24 spots filled. Tune in tomorrow to see the judges picked to fill the final ten spots on American Idol when it airs Thursday at 8/7c on FOX.
