Project Runway All Stars

by Todd Betzold

Some of the designers needed God on their side tonight, as Project Runway All Stars combined forces with Broadway.

The designers head to Circle In The Square Theater to meet Angela, so it is looking like a Broadway challenge. On a sidenote, what the hell is Kenley wearing on her head? Okay, I am back...award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz comes out to help Angela introduce this week's challenge. The winner of this week's challenge will have their design featured in the new production of Godspell on Broadway and a bio in the playbill.

The challenge: design an outfit for a character in the musical, which is coming off very rich and wants to flaunt it. This will be a separates challenge, because the rest of the cast will dress her during the production. They have 30 minutes to sketch and 30 minutes to shop before heading to the workroom.

They all get started on their designs and Kara and Kenley are showing their love for each other, which Mila is completely over. We get to Joanna's visit to the workroom rather quickly. She thinks Austin's look is hideous right now, but he will turn it into something fabulous. She thinks Kara is not being as ambitious as she should be to be considered an all star. Positive reviews for Mila, Mondo and Jerell. Joanna is shocked Kenley is not working with polka dots this week...so true!

Kara is having a breakdown, after her not-so-great review from Joanna. With only seven designers left, get it together Kara if you want to win this. Time for fittings with the models and Mondo is not a fan of what he has come up with...he is going to be changing it up.

It is morning of runway show and Mondo has to get crackin' on his new look. Stress running high and then cat fight between Austin and Jerell, as Austin scrambles to finish and he feels Jerell is using his sewing machine...put the claws away girls! None of the designers seem to like the other designer's look. Kara looks like a tub of lipstick...Mila is the girl who couldn't get into the club...oh these drama queens.

Time for runway: judges this week are Angela, Georgina, Isaac and guest judge this week is award-winning Broadway star, Sutton Foster. My likes this week: Jerell (the one and only on that I did like, classy look), My dislikes this week: Michael (didn't like the look and same color that Rami used that sent him home), Kenley (jacket is nice, but nothing goes together with the look) and Kara (too simple).

Jerell is safe this week, so Kara, Michael, Kenley, Mondo, Mila and Austin have the highest and lowest scores. Good reviews go to Michael (looks like a bitchy party girl), Austin and Mondo (loved dress). Bad reviews for Kenley (may not have looked rich enough), Mila (feels more gaudy then rich) and Kara (good ideas, but needs to be tweaked).

The judges discuss and the designers come back to see who will be the winner and who will be going home. Michael is safe, so that means Mondo or Austin is the winner this week. Mondo is the winner and his look is headed to Broadway. Austin and Kenley are safe. Funny thing is the past couple weeks the women have been safe, now they are the bottom three. It's a battle between Kara and Mila...and Kara will be heading home and Mila is safe.
