Sally Camacho from Top Chef: Just Desserts Season 2

Last week, the judges of Top Chef: Just Desserts declared Chris Hanmer the winner of season 2. Giving him a run for his money was Sally Camacho but she fell just a little bit short when it mattered most. Today, we caught up with Sally in an exclusive interview to talk about her experiences on Top Chef: Just Desserts.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You have competed in national and international competitions previously. How did that compare to doing Top Chef: Just Desserts?
A. Sally: There is no competition like TCJD. It was such an amazing experience. It's different from my previous competitions because you know what you will be making and you can practice that everyday. With Top Chef, you've been practicing your whole life and really cannot better yourself any more for the competition, you just have to go there and "do you."

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was your best dish of the season, in your eyes?
A. Sally: My entremet for the finale. It was freaking GOOD!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How did you feel about having Vanarin and Orlando on your team in the final challenge?
A. Sally: I was happy to have two very close friends with me. I knew I could be honest with them and delegate.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Chris seemed to feel that Orlando contributed too much to your final showpiece. What is your response to that?
A. Sally: It's okay. I'm not going to judge people on how they feel. Also, I feel that my food was better, but, that wasn't good enough to take the win, so oh well... I was very fortunate to have Orlando on my team.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: We were hoping a female could take home the win! Did you feel any pressure as the last woman standing?
A. Sally: There was a little pressure, but I couldn't cloud my head with that at that moment. I really just needed to block out all doubts and focus and get the work done!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What's the biggest thing you're taking away from the experience of Top Chef Just Desserts?
A. Sally: The biggest thing, I am taking away from the experience is that I am proud that I stayed true to myself and represented myself professionally. I know I can cook and I proved it. Also, knowing that I can push myself. I also met some really cool talented people that I will be friends with for a long, long time.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What's next for you?
A. Sally: Next for me is my World Competition in Madrid, Spain. No stopping me...
