MasterChef Season 2

We are down to 15 competitors left on MasterChef and it is time for our second Mystery Box Challenge.

In this challenge, each competitor is given a box of secret ingredients they can use to make their dish in the allotted time of 60 minutes. The judges will only select three dishes to taste, so impeccable presentation is key.

After Jennifer gets thrown under the bus for plating raw lamb, Chef Ramsay says that the first dish chosen to taste is Alejandra's dish, the Curried Rack of Lamb with Peach Chutney and Cauliflower Steak. Chef Ramsay says that she had 60 minutes to make one amazing dish and she did that four times over. Joe Bastianich agreed when he said she nailed it, nailed it, nailed it, nailed it.

The next dish they chose to taste was Adrien's dish, Farmers Market Lamb with Cauliflower Puree, which Joe said would be the most restaurant-ready dish. The judges all loved it, including Joe who said it was like fireworks on your palate.

The final dish chosen was Tracy's dish, Sweet and Salty Lamb and Feta. Good words from the judges, including Joe saying the feta and lamb made a winning combination.

The judges discuss and decide that the winner of this challenge was Adrien, as he gets to go into the MasterChef pantry and chose the ingredient him and his competitors are cooking with for the Elimination Test. The judges again get to chose the theme, which is desserts this week, but Adrien has to chose the ingredient he will cook with and a different one for the rest of his competitors to cook with. His choices are coffee, pineapples and nuts.

Adrien goes back to the kitchen and announces he has chosen nuts for his ingredient and for the rest; they will be cooking with coffee.

After 90 minutes of cooking, the contestants all get to present their dish to the judges and at least one competitor will be sent home. Adrien is up first and Joe said that he took an incredible advantage and squandered it. The dishes all continued to be bad, including Jennie who served a raw tart. This sets the judges off and Chef Ramsay states he just wants to be done.

Tracy brings the mood back to happy in the kitchen when her Espresso Chocolate Cake wows the judges and the rest of the dishes were a mixture of good and bad.

The judges tasted all the dishes and state two of the dishes left the competition behind, which were Esther and Tracy. They will be moving on to the next challenge, in which both will be a team captain.

Next, the bottom three dishes are announced: Jennie, whose tart was served raw; Alvin, whose dish Chef Ramsay said looked like a coffee blood clot and Max, whose dessert had a horrible/weird texture.

Chef Ramsay states that Jennie had one of the worst dishes of the day, but there were two dishes that were worse and she is safe. Chef Ramsay says that Alvin had the worst dish of the night and he will be going home. He was courageous, but needed to learn the basics first. Max is safe for another week.
