The Glee Project

This week's challenge on The Glee Project is "Vulnerability" and the kids are assigned "Please Don't Leave Me" by Pink. Dot-Marie Jones, who plays Coach Beiste on Glee, is the guest judge and joins Robert Ulrich for the performance. Many of them deliver when it comes to being heartfelt and emotional.

Dot felt that Lindsay's performance was forced and fake and she argues back - seems like that's going to be a mistake. Emily and Matheus are singled out for their great work but Dot goes with Matheus for the win. The video shoot this week will be to "Mad World" by Tears for Fears.

Erik White, the video director, shows up to let everyone know that they'll be standing in Universal City Walk with a sign that points out each one's deepest insecurity. It's tough for each of them to put a word on a sign that really puts them out there - from weight to sexual orientation to race to the feeling of unwanted. A lot of them are things that any of us can relate to but one surprising revelation was that Emily was used, sexually, by music producers.

In the recording session with Nikki, many people talk about their insecurities but nobody seems to deliver vocally.  Well, then again, it's not really that kind of song...

Alex's performance in the video particular stands out and really strikes a chord with Marissa, who unexpectedly decides last minute to change her sign. It originally said "Flawed" but she changed it to really tell the tale of her past: "Anorexic". When it all comes together, it's definitely powerful and their best work to date.

Going into callback day, it's tough to predict who will be the third person in the bottom. My instincts tell me that Lindsay and Cameron are in trouble. However, Robert feels that Lindsay took the notes from the homework assignment and applied them to the video shoot so she's safe. Cameron is in the bottom three, along with Damian and Emily.

Damian is given "Are You Lonesome Tonight" by Elvis, Emily is assigned "Grenade" by Bruno Mars", and Cameron is asked to sing "Your Song" by Elton John.

I liked Cameron's vocals so much that I would download it on iTunes tomorrow if it was available. However, Ryan Murphy wasn't feelin' the emotion behind it so he asks him to sing it again. Emily brings her big voice and diva style while Damian does show a softer, more vulnerable side. In fact, Robert and Zach agree that it's the best he's ever done.

After talking it over, Ryan, Robert, and Zach decide that it's time to cut Emily.  It's too bad, too.  She has a lot going for her.  Hopefully, it's not the last we've heard of this little firecracker.
