The Voice: Live Shows

by Todd Betzold

An extra night of The Voice this week, but unfortunately that means four more singers have to go home. This is going to be a hard one for me, because I have come to love all eight of the singers that are left.

The show starts with a performance by the top eight, as they get together to sing "Freedom" and "Faith" by George Michael. A fun start to the night and a great showcase of each singer.

How it works tonight, each artist has two scores: one from their coach and one from America's votes. Both scores are out of 100 and carry equal weight. They add up each score and the artist with the highest score from each team advances to the finals next week.

Up first is Team CeeLo and the battle between Nakia and Vicci Martinez. A look at both of their performances from last night and a tearful moment from each singer. CeeLo announces his scores for them, which are 51 points to Nakia and 49 points to Vicci. After adding in America's score, Vicci comes out on top, 124 points to 76 points, and is the first finalist.

After a performance by CeeLo of his new song "Bright Lights, Bigger City," we get a chance to see the results between Casey Weston and Javier Colon for Team Adam. For the coaches' score, Adam gives 65 points to Javier and 35 points to Casey, which he reveals he wanted to push to get Javier in the finals (and I can't blame him), so that is why the big advantage to Javier. After adding in America's score, Javier does get to the finals with 138 points to Casey's 62 points. You all are lucky he made it!

Next up, we get to find out if Dia Frampton or Xenia will be moving on for Team Blake. After seeing their performances from last night, Blake gives them his scores, which are 50 points to Dia and 50 points to Xenia. After adding in America's votes, Dia moves on to the finals with 106 points to 94 points for Xenia.

Lastly, we get to look at Frenchie Davis and Beverly McClellan for Team Christina (a.k.a. Battle of Team Bald). A look at their performances from last night and more tears from all around, but then Christina announces her scores, which are 50 points to Frenchie and 50 points to Beverly. After adding in America's score, Beverly comes out on top, 107 points to 93 points.

Only one more week before we find out the winner. Original songs and duets with their coaches next week, as the performances on
