If you've been wondering what goes on behind the scenes of NBC's newest hit show, The Voice, look no further than Alison Haislip, their online correspondent. She's constantly blogging, Tweeting, and posting on Facebook, giving fans interviews, videos, pics, news, and everything else they could want. Today, we talked to Alison in an exclusive interview to learn a little bit more about this social media queen!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: I read in your bio that you grew up singing and performing. Can you tell us a little more about that?
A. Alison: Sure! Both my parents are musicians. They actually met in college, in marching bands. They're super cool. My dad was a drum major and my mom played first flute. From birth, music was always part of my family. My mom sings all the time. She plays in an orchestra in New Jersey. When I was younger, I thought I was going to be a singer. Music was always my path and I did musicals. I went on to do straight plays and thought, "I'm way more into the acting part." I still love music, though. I own a gorgeous red piano here in L.A. When The Voice came along, obviously, it was a music competition, using social media. I was like, "Oh., this is a perfect job for me!" You're basically going to pay me to do what I do in my everyday life.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How were you approached to join The Voice?
A. Alison: The producers of The Voice found me through G4. They knew my work through G4 and called me in for a meeting. I have no idea how I got this meeting or how they randomly found me. The Voice is a show that's created in Holland. I found the website but the entire thing was in Dutch. I was like, "Why are they in chairs? Why are two people singing at once?" They explained the concept to me and I was like, "That's a show I would watch." They explained my role and they told me that for my job, they couldn't fake it. They had to get a "name" or someone with a recognizable face. There's a finesse in talking to an online audience. People can smell out inauthenticity. I was like, "You're coming to the right person."

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How do you take social media to the next level?
A. Alison: I honestly believe that the way to have a successful Twitter account... well, there are two rules. One is to be authentic. You can't pretend that you're something that you're not. Number two is to be really funny. The internet has become another form of entertainment. People want to go to whatever site to chuckle or be interested. That's always what I try to maintain - to have a voice and be somewhat entertaining. The Voice told me day one, "If you don't have time, we can have people write stuff for you," and I instantly was like, "No, I don't want that." If I'm going to be something, I want to be out there as me. I was Tweeting about the show before anybody even knew what it was. People were giving me flack. They were like, "This show is going to be cancelled in May." I kept trying to make my Tweets funnier and more amusing. People said afterwards, "I would never have watched this show if your Tweets weren't so funny about it."

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What has the fan reaction been like since the show started airing?
A. Alison: It's been awesome. I feel like when you're dealing with an online audience, there's a lot of room for haters. It's the nature of the beast. I have dealt with so little of that with The Voice that it's almost astonishing. Now that the show is such a huge success, it's like everyone is on board. Admitedly, I'll get a Tweet that people think I'm not a nerd anymore. By the way, I still work on G4. Some people just have a hard time wrapping their mind around change!

The Voice airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
