The Real World: Las Vegas

by Gina Scarpa

Last night, on The Real World: Las Vegas, the roomies got their last assignment for their job, which was to work on a musical charity project. The roomies decide that they want to help keep music in the schools and Mike takes the lead on it, making countless phone calls and researching what kids in the Las Vegas school system need. At a meeting about it though, Dustin's TDS (Top Dog Syndrome) kicks in and he takes over, spewing out whatever he can think of to see important. Let's just say that Mike is starting to get fed up...

On their way out of the meeting, Mike warns Dustin that the schools may not let him in if they Google his name and learn about his past in gay porn. That does not sit well with Dustin at all, who is offended and hurt, but covers it up with anger. A confrontation is surely coming.

Nany meets with the private investigator that she hired and learns more about her father - mainly that he's married and he's been married since before he went to jail. That means he was married before she was born and had an affair with her mother. All of this information is a lot to process so she writes out her feelings in a letter and gives it to the investigator to deliver to her father in Florida.

A letter arrives at the suite, letting everyone know that Sun Drop is sending them to a beach party in Cancun - in 12 hours! Madness and mayhem ensues as they celebrate and scramble to get ready. In Mexico, the roomies head out for a night of partying and Dustin gets stupid drunk, fighting with a cab driver and saying offensive things to his friends.

Side note: HELLO to Cooke's cute Aussie hookup, Daniel.  Nice pickup!

Back in the room, his drunken anger rages out of control and he tries (several times) to fight Mike. The girls run around like bats out of hell, trying to stop one or both of them from being kicked off the show. Where Leroy is during all of this is beyond me. Finally, Cooke takes down Dustin (way to go, girl!) and gets him to calm down.

The next day, everybody heads to the beach party and acts like nothing happened. Mike feels like everyone blames him for the confrontation in the hotel room and people try to explain to him that he was instigating it from the beginning. He doesn't understand why everybody caters to Dustin and protects him while he feels like he has to watch everything he says. Good point.

Back in Vegas, when the group heads to a Las Vegas school to check out their program, Mike decides to stay behind and take a step back from the group. It's unfortunate, given the passion he had for it in the beginning and the amount of time he put into it. It seems that, right now, he feels it's better to stay away than feel constantly fed up and frustrated.

Is anyone else confused by how quickly Heather put aside everything that had upset her and is blinded by her feelings for Dustin?
