Austin Andrews from The Biggest Loser 11

Last week, on The Biggest Loser, Austin fell below the yellow line at the weigh-in, along with Hannah. Knowing that Olivia and Irene would surely save her, he accepted the fact that his time on the ranch was over but took a wealth of knowledge home with him. He's gotten down to 230 pounds, is speaking at local schools about the importance of being healthy, and is preparing for the upcoming live finale. Today, we caught up with him in an exclusive interview to talk about his experiences on The Biggest Loser.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What made you decide to try out for The Biggest Loser? Whose idea was it?
A. Austin: My dad and I tried out for The Biggest Loser because his health had become very poor due to obesity related causes, and I was heading down a similar path. We both decided that this journey would be one we need to make, but my dad was more of the influence on pushing us to The Biggest Loser.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How great did it feel to make it to the final five? Were you surprised you were voted off?
A. Austin: I wasn't surprised when I saw the weights for the evening. It was obvious that people were close on the ranch, and while I was accepted and loved, I was definitely on the outside of the final five. It did feel amazing to be in that elite group and I was extremely proud of my performance. Truth is, I had a bad week of weight loss and on the ranch, that's all it takes to exit the competition.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Was it ever hard being so young on the ranch?
A. Austin: I actually like the fact that I was one of the youngest. At times, it gave me the opportunity to be a bit more silly than normal, and I felt that this experience is opening up my world to me when it could matter the most. I'm blessed to have had this experience so young!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was your best moment in all of the weeks you were on the show?
A. Austin: My best moment would have been FINALLY winning an individual challenge. These girls were so tough, so to finally push out in front of them was a great feeling for me!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How important was it for you to do this with your dad? How has it changed your relationship with him?
A. Austin: Making this change with my dad was huge. It absolutely changed how we communicate for the better and it helped me see where it was that I could improve with my family. Having my dad beside me for this adventure was the best plus I could of had!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Looking back on it, do you regret picking Brett and Cara over Bob and Jillian at the beginning?
A. Austin: No, I believe that it is the training in the martial arts that will actually help me keep my weight off in the long run! I might be lost without them!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Would you do anything different if you could do it all over again?
A. Austin: Truthfully, no. Does that mean I didn't make mistakes? No, it just means that I need to make mistakes to help myself learn from it all.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was the most important thing you learned on the ranch?
A. Austin: How to be me and how to dream.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Do you have a goal for the finale?
A. Austin: Truthfully, my weight loss journey is very close to its finality, so I am working with medical staff to decide where I need to end up, and once that's all been figured medically, I'll stick to that. This isn't about what is "normal" - this is about what is healthy for Austin Andrews.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How are you keeping the weight off for the finale?
A. Austin: I am training in muy thai, as a fighter. Basically, I'm having the time of my life!
