America's Best Dance Crew Season 6

by Danae Young

This week on America’s Best Dance Crew, five new crews are added to the mix but one must ultimately go home.

Tonight was the Ke$ha episode and she delivered the challenges to each of the crews herself via a video on a cell phone.

All of the crews came out strong in the group performance at the start of the show to Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R.”

FootworKINGz is a crew filled with kings and one queen. Footworking is actually a style of dance you only learn in Chicago. The crew performed to “TiK ToK” by Ke$ha. Lil Mama liked that the girl could keep up with the guys. JC Chasez thought they kept up the speed nicely. D-Trix said they had a really good build up from beginning to end.

All the way from San Juan, Puerto Rico is 787 Crew bringing high energy, stage presence and big tricks. Unfortunately one of the crew members broke his leg in rehearsal, so this one was for him. They performed to Ke$ha’s “Blow.” D-Trix said that if that is how they perform with six people, he can’t wait to see what they can do with all seven. Lil Mama thought they brought a lot of styles out and had great rhythm. JC Chasez thought they stepped up to the plate this week even though they didn’t have their whole crew.

ICONic Boyz, from English Town, New Jersey, is the youngest crew ever on America’s Best Dance Crew. This group of 10-year-olds has been together for two years! This is definitely who I’m rooting for this season. After a performance to Ke$ha’s “Your Love Is My Drug,” JC Chasez was pleasantly surprised. He said they were thinking beyond their years. D-Trix thought they brought Jersey flavor to the stage. Lil Mama said they were “charming,” but liked that they were creating their own foundation on the stage.

Jag6ed is an all-girl crew from Crenshaw, California. They specialize in contemporary pole dancing and they want to prove that pole dancing can be artistic. Even though they performed to “Sleazy” by Ke$ha, they wanted to be seen as artistic over sleazy. D-Trix felt mixed reviews. He said they have something here but he isn’t sure if he was entertained or not. Lil Mama commends them but said they need to kick it up a notch. JC Chasez thought their tricks on the pole were good but noticed there was a lot of walking around.

Instant Noodles, from Los Angeles, California, performed to “Dirty Picture” by Ke$ha. Their main concern is that they want people to enjoy them as performers because they like to have fun while they dance. Lil Mama said it was definitely entertaining but thought it was missing some choreography. JC Chasez liked that a lot of the performance was low to the ground. D-Trix didn’t like it at all.

Even though the crews just got here, already one had to be sent home.

It looks like Jag6ed’s artistic abilities weren’t enough to keep them around because the judges sent them packing.
