American Idol Season 10

by Gina Scarpa

Tonight's elimination episode of American Idol kicks off with Scotty and Lauren teaming up to cover Lady Antebellum's "American Honey". Great choice but how can I get Scotty to stop holding his microphone and leaning over the way he does? Next up is Haley and Casey, who performed a jazzy version of "Moanin'". It was a whole lotta growling.

After the duets, the four Idols headed to the center of the stage to find out who was safe and who was in danger. Scotty, Lauren, and Casey are all safe while Haley takes a step back and finds herself in the bottom three.

A video is shown of director Rob Reiner's random trip to the set of Idol. Just to put things into perspective, When Harry Met Sally came out in 1989. Lauren was five and Scotty was four. I'm pretty sure they haven't seen most of his movies and also not sure what he brings to the table to help them. Oh well... moving on...

The girl who started it all, Kelly Clarkson, is joined on stage by country star Jason Aldean for their new hit, "Don't You Wanna Stay?"  Love this song!

Ryan introduces James, Jacob, Paul, and Stefano and lets the audience know that in a minute, two of them will join Haley in the bottom three. But first, a song! They perform Simon and Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence" and "Mrs. Robinson". I'm just gonna say it. Paul's the only one who should be singing Simon and Garfunkel. The other three just feel out of place.

Rihanna performs her new song "California King Bed" and perhaps you noticed that one of the dancers rolling around on the floor was

Lauren Gottlieb of So You Think You Can Dance. After her performance, Rihanna reveals that on her tour, she's going to have two stands for fans to sit in during her show which sounds awesome.

Joining Haley in the bottom three are Paul and Stefano. Will she be the next girl to go? Nope - she's safe and headed back to the couch. Tonight, the singer leaving Idol is... Paul. He and his rosy jackets are headed home to Nashville.

Be sure to tune in when the Top 7 take the stage on American Idol, Wednesday at 8/7c on FOX.
