We pick up tonight's episode of The Amazing Race where last week's left off - at the pit stop. Teams were surprised upon meeting up with Phil to find out that the first leg was still going and off they ran! The cowboys are stuck at the Road Block and need to get it together quickly or they'll be the first ones out.

 

Teams are now flying from Sydney to Broken Hill, a small mining town 680 miles away. In order to get to the charter planes, they have to figure out a clue ("To sail to stop") that has everyone driving aimlessly around Sydney. The race has already taken its toll on 70-year-old Mel, who passes out on a ferry ride, scaring the hell out of Mike. And to think this is only the beginning...

 

The first six teams on the flight are Jen and Kisha, Zev and Justin, Jaime and Cara, Margie and Luke, Mel and Mike, and Kent and Vyxsin. Jet and Cord finally get it in gear and make it to Town Hall in Sydney in order to grab a spot on the second flight stay in the race.

 

Upon arriving in Broken Hill, teams drive to The Living Desert to face their first Detour. Their choices: Spirit World or Natural World. In Spirit World, teams must use natural materials to create a mosaic and perform a dance on top of it. In Natural World, teams must create aboriginal markers by putting paint in their mouth and spitting it out. Gross. Everyone chooses Spirit World but Amanda and Kris will have to do both after incurring a U-Turn in the first challenge.

 

Zev and Justin finish first, followed by Margie and Luke and Mel and Mike. Back in Broken Hill, teams have to figure out the home of the magpies is the Central Football Club in order to get their next clue. There, they encounter one of the show's most ridiculous tasks ever - dress up like a kangaroo and find two streets named after elements, Mercury and Bismuth (Hg and Bi), that cross each other.

 

There is not a team on the race that seems to have better luck finding people that can help them more than Zev and Justin. Thanks to some knowledgeable locals, they have sailed through this leg of the race. They reach the clue first and are the first to arrive at the pit stop, located at Junction Mine, and win a trip to Cancun, Mexico.

 

Teams finish in the following order: Flight Time and Big Easy, Jet and Cord, Jen and Kisha, Margie and Luke, Mel and Mike, Kent and Vyxsin, Jaime and Cara, Gary and Mallory, Ron and Christina, and Amanda and Kris.  So for the second time, a U-Turn ends the race for Amanda and Kris.  What terrible luck.
