The Challenge: Cutthroat

by Gina Scarpa

Tonight, on The Challenge: Cutthroat, Laurel and Sarah debate throwing the next challenge in order to dump Cara Maria before the finals. It's still unclear what Laurel's major problem is with Cara Maria. She's certainly nobody's Shauvon and she has proven herself enough to at least gain a little respect but Laurel is on a mission. The less people that go into the final challenge, the more money there is to split, which motivates Sarah to get on board with a plan to throw the next challenge.

Meanwhile, the challenge is starting to take its toll on Tori and Brad's marriage. Brad feels like he's been playing this game by Tori's rules and she has no plan. What plan is there? Win, vote, and go into the Gulag. There really isn't that much strategizing to do with the way that things are set up this season. Everyone just needs to take five minutes to breathe.

Tonight's challenge, "High Ball" sounds simple enough - one player had to throw a ball onto what looked like a giant martini glass while two other players maneuvered it up a hill and dropped the ball into a basket. The problem, however, is that the ball does not want to stay on top of this thing and it quickly becomes frustrating to everyone playing. In fact, I don't know how they didn't just start throwing things and completely melting down because it seemed impossible. Impossible, that is, unless you're the grey team.

Realizing that blue and red were struggling, Laurel and Abe put their differences aside to work together towards a victory. They bank some cash and Cara Maria can rest assured that she'll live to see another day to compete and attack Abe in his bed.

The Gulag votes are pleasant and drama free. Johnny and Theresa volunteer for the blue team while Tori and Tyler volunteer for the red team. Before heading out to compete, Tori considers dropping out completely because she's worried that she'll ruin it for Paula and Brad in the final challenge. Then... what are you doing there in the first place? Sensing her lack of confidence, Jenn builds up Theresa to fight hard and win in the Gulag.

Unfortunately for the four people sent to compete to stay in the game, they won't be going against each other. TJ shocks everyone (except the viewers because we've seen it in the previews for weeks) when he brings in CT and Tina. I seriously think everyone just crapped their pants. They'll compete in "Back Up Off Me", a Gulag we've seen before... but this time, it's going to be awesome.

First up is the blue team and Theresa heads in to face off against Tina. Tina says she's doing this for pride and nothing else... and then loses. Tiny Theresa drags Tina inch by inch over to her barrel and kicks it over. Well, that was a letdown. As Johnny heads down the stairs to sit back to back to CT, I can't help but be overcome with excitement - and then the dreaded words hit my television screen: "To Be Continued".
