America's Next Top Model Cycle 15: Finale

by Mike Bandy

The finale of ANTM began with Ann and Chelsey being very excited. Chelsey said that she has wanted to be a supermodel since she was three, and has gotten a lot of criticism about her look in the past. Ann said that she's so proud of herself, and she's been working so hard to win this. Growing up, people would make fun of her because of her height, but being on ANTM and having an advantage of being unique has been a great thing for her.

The girls went to their shoot for Italian Vogue, where they met up with Valentina Serra and photographer Vincent Peters. The girls posed in gowns in the grass, and then were in the pond in different gowns as well. The photographer said of Ann that she is high end and couture, and that Chelsey has something that the camera likes.

The girls arrive home from the shoot to find a Tyra Mail, which reads, "Real high fashion models know how to commercialize their careers." The girls know that they will be doing a CoverGirl commercial, but they did not receive any lines to memorize for it.

The next day, the girls go off to their CoverGirl shoot, where they meet up with Mr. Jay, who tells them that they are doing voiceovers, and will not have to memorize lines. The ad was for LashBlast Fusion Mascara. The shoot began with the girls sitting at a table, using CoverGirl makeup and smiling at each other, taking photos together, followed by the girls walking towards a gelato stand. Both girls wowed Jay, who said that they had great synergy.

Jay told the girls that they needed one more bit of inspiration for the shoot, and each girl's family showed up. They got to watch the girls on their beauty shoots; Chelsey's went well, and the photographer said she was very commercial. Ann's shoot was great, though her voiceover started out a bit stiff. The girls' families were very proud of them.

Once the shoot was over, Jay informed the girls that their families would be front row at the Cavalli show!

The girls arrived home to a Tyra Mail, which read, "It's time to make one more important stop on your race to the top."The girls then met Ivan Bart, the Senior Vice President of IMG models, who wanted a one on one meeting with each girl. Chelsey impressed him; he thought she had a great personality and felt comfortable talking to her. Ivan Bart thought Ann was very pretty, but he wanted to work on her personality a little bit. He said that his mind was not made up, and he'd definitely be scrutinizing their runway show.

At said runway show, the girls met up with Liz, Chris, Jane, and Kayla, who were also walking in the show, along with cycle 14 winner Krista. In hair and makeup, Jane said that she was rooting for Ann because Chelsey has already had experience, and Kayla said that Ann has a good shot at this, but she wants Chelsey to win.

The runway show began, with Krista as the opener. Overall, Ann's performance in the runway show got better as it went along, and her walk had improved. Chelsey did really well on her runway walk as well. After the show, Chelsey said that she felt great, and the only way it could get better is finding out that she won. Ann said that she wants to inspire people who were picked on.

Time for the final judging, with guest judges Jay Manuel, and Roberto Cavalli! Chelsey's runway walk was a tad fast, and she got a bit lost at the end of the runway, and seemed very tentative according to the judges, but the camera loves her. Ann's runway walk has really improved, but her eyes were too focused, and Cavalli thought that she looked scared. The girls' CoverGirl commercial was very believable, almost too believable to the judges. It was a very natural performance. Chelsey's CoverGirl photo was too beautiful for the product, according to Cavalli, but she had power in her eyes. Ann's photo may not be used by CoverGirl, according to Nigel, but Andre Leon Talley absolutely loved it.

During the final deliberation, it was said that Chelsey is more professional and has more experience, and would work great for American fashion, while Ann would work better for Italian fashion.

The winner of the contract with IMG Models, covers and spreads in both Italian Vogue and Beauty in Vogue, and a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl ...was Ann.

Ann was shocked and crying really hard, and she thanked all the judges. Chelsey said she was really upset and felt cheated. Ann said that she was happy that she can make her parents proud, and she couldn't believe that any of it was happening. All the people who made fun of her are going to wish they were nicer to her now.
