America's Next Top Model Cycle 15

by Mike Bandy

Last night on Top Model, Liz's talked about how privileged she feels to have been the only other girl to get best photo besides Ann, Ann was disappointed but unafraid of going home, and Esther decided to be more herself and show the judges who she is, after being in the bottom two the week before.

The girls got a Tyra Mail that said, "To be a top model, you will need help with posin'", after which Miss Jay showed up and announced that the girls had a fashion show for Zac Posen the next day. Zac then showed up and told the girls that he's presenting his new brand, ZSpoke. This would be a challenge for the girls, and they'd be working with professional models.

The next day, the girls arrive at the venue, and Miss Jay announces that the winner of this challenge would get 5 looks from the ZSpoke line, before sending them off to hair and makeup. Miss Jay then met with the professional models and told them to be mean to the girls, because the girls had to get used to what it's really like in the modeling world.

As the girls were practicing their walks, the professional models were watching and making comments. Chris said that for some girls this might be intimidating, but "You know me, I don't give a damn!" One professional model told Ann that she's lucky to be on Top Model, because she's not Zac's usual type of model, and Esther was told that big boobs can be hard to work with.

The fashion show began; notable girls were Chelsey, who had a smooth walk; Kayla, who had elegance, and Esther, who had a shake to her walk which did not go over well. The winner of the challenge was Chelsey, and she was speechless upon her win..

The next day, the girls are at home when Mr. Jay shows up with Nigel and announces that the girls would be doing their very first commercial, directed by Nigel. They were selling H2T water, on roller skates, and had to have a kissing moment with a guy at the end of their commercial. They were shooting right on the beach in front of their house.

Kayla was crying and upset about having to have an intimate moment with a man, and she revealed to Jay that she was sexually assaulted at the age of 11, and had never told anyone about it. She said that she was afraid of men and that if she had a job involving guys, she'd turn it down. Jay said that she hadn't healed from her trauma and that she needs to deal with it in a healthy way, because she cannot go on like this. Kayla did pull it together and gave a great performance in her commercial, even though she was uncomfortable.

Other notable girls' commercials were Liz, who laughed her way through messing up and irritated Nigel; Chris, who was personable and fun; and Ann, who fell down a lot and looked as though she might cry in every shot.

Back at the house that night, Kayla was asked by the girls why she had a tough time with the challenge, and she revealed that she had been assaulted. She said that she realized that talking about it is healthy and she wants to deal with this, because she's never told anybody about it before. Kayla "refuses to let anything get in her way" of winning this competition.

Panel was next, with Zac Posen as guest judge. Girls who stood out were: Jane, who had all of her lines down and delivered a great commercial; Chris, who was a bit cheesy but real and engaging; Ann, who looked upset and didn't deliver her lines well, and Esther, whose performance the judges said was a mess, but she looked like a model in person for the first time.

The call-outs were as follows: Chris, Jane, Chelsey, Kayla, Liz. The bottom two were Ann and Esther, with Esther being eliminated for not showing her personality enough. Tyra told Esther that she's an amazing example of beautiful curvy bodies, and to work on her voice and personality. Esther said she would try to open herself up more, that she wants to continue modeling, and may be on the cover of Italian Vogue all on her own.
