Big Brother Season 12: Finale

by Gina Scarpa

Tonight, it all comes down to Brigade members Hayden, Lane, and Enzo as they battle it out to win Big Brother. The three have been loyal to one another since Day 2 but they have no choice but to turn on each other now in order to make it to the final two and face the jury. Each downplays their game to the other so that they're guaranteed a spot in tonight's finale.

Before we get to the last round of the HOH competition, it's time to check in on the jury house. Ragan has gotten over the lie that Matt told because his friendship is important to him. Does anyone else think that Ragan has eyes for Matt? Britney joins the jury house wearing a shirt that says "Bra-Gade" and lets everyone know about the secret alliance. People are mad but I can't figure out why. You guys have seen Big Brother before right? Or any reality show? Alliances are to be expected and, nine times out of ten, the only way to win a reality competition.

Everyone heads outside to debate who the strongest player is remaining in the game. Rachel argues that they were lucky and not strategic while Ragan argues the brilliance of forming side alliances. Matt tries to take credit for every move the Brigade made (another lie) and argues against Enzo winning the half million. Lots of positive comments are thrown Hayden's way for playing both a strong social and physical game but Rachel thinks he was a puppet all season. She feels Lane played the best game but Ragan doesn't think being a nice guy isn't worth the win. All good arguments on both sides of things... hmm...

It's back to the Big Brother house to see how well Hayden and Lane know their jury members in order to win the final HOH competition. Clearly, they think alike because they answered every question correctly and incorrectly and were forced into a tiebreaker. The final question was: How many times were you slammed into the walls in round 1 of the final HOH competition? Hayden guessed 91 and Lane guessed 55. The correct answer is 250 - Hayden is the winner!

Immediately, the three head into the living room for the eviction ceremony. After Lane and Enzo make their cases to stay, Hayden stands up and decides to evict Enzo. WHAT?!

The jury is brought to the stage to ask Hayden and Lane their questions before casting their votes. Rachel asked how Lane could justify winning this game without being a good competitor and he talks up his social game. Brendon asks what other two players he would like to see be in the finals and he says that Brachel are the best competitors so they would be the obvious choice. Matt asks if Lane would've chosen Britney or a Brigade member to go to the end and, after trying to dodge the question, he finally admits he would choose Brigade.

Kathy asks Hayden who played a better social game and he honestly answers that they're pretty equal and quickly inserts that what separated them was competitions. Britney asks Lane what his biggest individual contribution to the Brigade was and he says making them laugh and watching over them. (I think that answer most definitely cost him the game... if he had any chance in the first place.) Ragan asks Hayden if he has any regrets of things he said behind people's backs and he doesn't get specific, calling himself a "good guy". Enzo gets the last question, asking Lane if he was really going to take him to the final two. Once again, he doesn't really answer the question but calls himself a good guy, too.

Hayden makes a great case to win. He's won 5 competitions, 3 of which were HOHs in a row (which has never been done before). He won the POV that resulted in the Brigade making the final three and he talked up his social game, which was definitely spot on. Lane definitely can't list all of those reasons for people to vote for him so he just tries to kiss ass and says that you don't need to win competitions in order to be the best player.

Before the votes are read, Kristen, Monet, Andrew, and Annie are brought back to give the perspective of the only players who have seen everything that happened this season. Significant eye opening moments to the jury and final two are Hayden and Kristen's showmance and the guys in the Brigade finding out that Matt lied about his wife.

One of the night's best moments: After Rachel announced that she would move to UCLA to be with Brendon (she knows that it's not a city, right?), Britney mouths: "That is disgusting."

Annie bums everyone out by saying that nobody in the house really knew each other.  Dammit.  Ragan reveals himself as the second saboteur, which shocks everyone, since almost everyone thought it was Matt.

FINALLY!  The keys are pulled from the box.  Rachel votes for Lane, Kathy votes for Hayden, Matt votes for Hayden, Brendon votes for Lane, Ragan votes for Hayden, Britney votes for Lane, and Enzo is the deciding vote.  The winner is HAYDEN!

Oh, and the Fan Favorite?  Britney wins $25,000!  Who did you vote for?
