The Real World: New Orleans

by Gina Scarpa

Last night, on The Real World: New Orleans, Jemmye just couldn't seem to get enough of Knight after he stole her white man virginity. While hanging out at the house, Preston shares his coming out story with McKenzie and Knight, which then leads to everyone's favorite debate this season - Ryan's sexuality. Is he gay? Is he not gay? Regardless, Ryan just can't seem to stop spewing hatred around the house towards Preston. He needs to just calm down.

Ashlee and Preston decide to actually do something while in New Orleans (I know, crazy, right?) and head down to a local radio station to inquire about starting their own show. Their original idea was a fan based show regarding the Saints but it turns into an even bigger idea, where they'll have a weekly show covering various topics. How exciting for them!

The aspirations of Preston and Ashlee must have rubbed off on the other roomies because the next day, they head out to volunteer at a dog parade. Yeah, you heard me. It's Superbowl Sunday and you can only imagine how pumped the people of New Orleans are with their beloved Saints in it to win it against the Colts.

Hold the celebration! The game hasn't even started yet and Ryan throws gay slurs Preston's way. Unfortunately for Ryan, he picked the wrong guy to mess with because Preston goes off in the car. Back at the house, Knight tries to calm Ryan down and keep the peace - if humanly possible. Meanwhile, Sahar tries to explain to Preston that it's not his place to call out Ryan for being ambiguous. True enough.

Preston and Ashlee majorly screw up when they realize that they didn't record any of the interviews from the dog parade earlier. After putting their heads together, they realize that the red button was the record button. Ohhh, the RED button. Yeah, they got nothin'.

Oh well, it doesn't matter because it's time to party! Preston gets kicked out of the bar for, what I can only imagine, being gay. He was not overly drunk, belligerent, out of control, or anything. He simply kissed a guy. And then was asked to leave. Ashlee came out to the rescue and somehow, got him back in. Party on!

When the clock runs out and the Saints walk off the field as champions, the mayhem begins on Bourbon Street. McKenzie tries to leave with a creeper and a half and Preston tries to step in and stop her from making a stupid decision. She doesn't want to hear it and takes off. Eventually, in her extremely drunken state, she comes to her senses and takes a cab home.

McKenzie has been blacking out on a fairly regular basis. On the phone with her friend, she says that when it was only two or three times a week, it wasn't that big of a deal. Hold on a second. Blacking out TWO OR THREE times a week?! So it's happening more than that? And no one is severely concerned? They tried to make her go to rehab and she said no, no, no...

The tensions between Ryan and Preston in the house are starting to boil over. A conversation that started about doing the dishes turned into an all out war between the two. When Preston reveals that he rubbed Ryan's underwear all over himself, it's time for a little revenge. Ryan wipes Preston's cigarettes on his butt while Preston pees on Ryan's toothbrush. Dis-gus-ting.

Out at the bar, Jemmye gets extremely jealous when Knight talks to another girl. They talk it out in the confessional later but they're so drunk that I can barely understand them. No, seriously. I have no idea what just happened. Are there any drunk translators in the house? Something tells me this isn't going to end well...
