Hunter Wagner from The Bachelorette 6

by Danae Young

This week on The Bachelorette, Hunter Wagner was eliminated on his one-on-one date with Ali. Ali was hoping to find a romantic connection between the two of them and not giving Hunter the rose was her sign that she just wasn't feeling it. Today, Hunter spoke to RealityWanted and reporters in a press conference call. Even though he wishes he could’ve ignored the cameras a little more, he is happy to be back home in San Antonio.

Q. Danae, RealityWanted: What were you hoping Ali would see in you on your one-on-one date?
A. Hunter: I was hoping that I would open up more. I think what’s strange and what’s different about me is that the cameras had an opposite effect on me at first. At first I didn’t see the cameras but the more time passed I realized I was shutting down in front of the cameras. I was hoping if we found that connection the cameras would disappear.

Q. Danae, RealityWanted: You said that you're a guy who usually moves slow with girls.  Was it tough to be in that competitive environment?
A. Hunter: It wasn’t tough, it was actually maybe even more help. We had nothing to do but bond. All we really did was sit around and talk to each other. We were able to talk about the things that were working and the things we were having issues with. The guys were able to help me out with issues I was having but I never really got over the cameras.

Q. Are you relieved this experience is behind you?
A. Hunter: I’m relieved that next Monday I will not be shown. It was kind of tough to watch myself. I know I watched it with some friends the first episode. It’s tough watching yourself on television. You don’t know what’s going to happen because they put hours and hours of editing into it.

Q. Is there a guy on your season you would nominate to be the next Bachelor?
A. Hunter: Chris L., Roberto, or Kirk.

Q. When you left did you feel like maybe there could’ve been a romantic connection if things were differently, or were u happy you left?
A. Hunter: It was mixed emotions, I mean it really was. I was pumped to be there but happy to go as well. I think if I would have had more time possibly I would’ve been more myself in front of the cameras.

Q. How do you think Justin’s visit to Ali impacted your date with her?
A. Hunter: It definitely had an impact. It took the fire away from our date. I don’t think she was fully into it either because Justin spent time with her. Do I blame her? No. Justin was the one that did that. At the end of the day there just wasn’t that connection.

Q. Do you think if you had a more exciting date, like the high wire with Roberto, you would’ve bonded more with Ali?
A. Hunter: I’ve thought that before. There wasn’t this exciting adventure we were able to share together. The one-on-one date was more like a real one-on-one date someone would have in real life.

Q. How has your life changed being back home?
A. Hunter: When I got back I took two extra days of work and just slept for 48 hours straight. Then I jumped back into “reality.” This is a busy time for work for me right now. Now that I’m officially kicked off we’ll see what happens. I went out last night and got recognized a few times.
