The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 2

by Chandra Clewley

This week’s episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey is mostly part of the journey and not exactly the blow outs we have become accustomed to, ala the cousins over on the other side of the George Washington Bridge.

Teresa is mostly focused on Gia and her acting career (or lack thereof, at this point). Gia has a Jersey accent (dawgs, cawfee, you get the gist) so they visit a voice coach. Teresa is hesitant to let Gia lose her Joysey accent…

Caroline’s entire family has become part of the cast, so each time that her segment comes in, you have about a 20% shot of actually seeing Caroline. Albert, Christopher and Lauren are shown at The Brownstone, working, and of course, all are talking about the “surpriiiiiiiise” (I wish I could record Danny’s Mafioso version of this word and insert it here, but alas, not good enough at the techy stuff) of Christopher being called a “faggot”.

Jacqueline conveniently runs into Kim G at Chateau getting pedi’s and Kim G admits her soul crushing embarrassment at The Brownstone when she was escorted by the entire New Jersey chapter of the Hell’s Angels and the actor-mobster/mobster-actor Danny, who called her son’s best friend the offending “F” word. Kim G says she is going to let Danielle know of her disappointment. Jacqueline (and the world) laughs at Kim G. Later Kim G is throwing a birthday party for Danielle and a group of her “friends” and mentions the offending word and its usage to Danielle. Danielle, of course, isn’t defending Danny using it, and shucks all responsibility for him and the word by saying she isn’t the one that used it. (BUT she is the ONE that invited him in the first place, and riled him up before the event itself…) Later, Danielle cries at her party about the Manzo’s, naturally. What else would Danielle EVER be thinking about?

Teresa and Jacqueline are having lunch when the news arises of Danielle wanting to get a restraining order against Ashley. Turns out they have been having a Facebook/Twitter war (I guess this is before anyone understood “Blocking”) and Ashley has gone a tad too far. Of course, this 47 year old vs. 18 year old Twitter/Facebook war is ridiculous. Neither one of them should be engaging in it…but are you surprised?

Caroline is having the entire family over for dinner, and of course Teresa is an hour and a half late, which is typical. They all wait to eat. Ok, seriously? This is so rude! I get that Teresa has 4 daughters and is busy, but with the recent news that both sets of her parents live in the house, it turns out she does have help, even if it isn’t a “nanny”. Now, that is all hearsay, but really, it is such a horrible, nasty habit. I think a lot of people have this as a pet peeve, and obviously I am one of them. In my humble opinion, Caroline should have served dinner and forgotten Teresa until she showed up. Life goes on! At the table, the discussion naturally turns towards Danielle. This is like a sick love affair obsession…Manzo’s are all “Danielle Danielle Danielle” and Danielle is all “Manzo Manzo Manzo”. They should all just get together, “make out with the tongue” and be done with it.

At the same time, Dina is on her way to meet up with Danielle. Danielle is nervous and afraid she might be ambushed but she has agreed to go because, it seems to me on the outside, there is a tiny little glimmer of hope that she can be friends with Dina still. I think she really believes this, but when Dina gets there and shares with her that she wants her out of her life, Danielle gets all crazed, like a scorned lova, and talks over Dina without letting her get a word in edgewise. Maybe Dina’s sociopath comment wasn’t too far off the marker? Or maybe Danielle has a point? The problem is, Danielle gets so worked up, so irate, so irrationally, blindingly enraged that it is completely off-putting and no one knows what exactly she is ranting about. I hope Kelly Bensimon and Danielle Staub can bunk up as roomies at Camp Crazy later this summer!

The confrontation with Dina is cut short and we will see the rest next week.
