It’s finally time to find out who makes American Idol’s Top 2! Don’t hold your breath though, you won’t find out the results until the last 5 minutes of the show (or the very bottom of the page). But honestly, at this point if you have what it takes (Lee and Crystal), you’re going to make it in the business whether you win or not.

 

We first hear a few words from our contestants about their experiences thus far and the incredible time constraints put on them. It takes quite some time until an artist can reach Justin Bieber status. Speaking of the Bieber Fever, the 12 year-old sensation performs for us later on in the show.

 

Before we see some performances, we go home to Texas with Casey James to see his fans, friends and family. I don’t think I have ever seen so many screaming girls in one space since N’SYNC. He is welcomed by an entire football stadium filled with fans screaming his name. Before returning, Casey visits the hospital that saved his life 6 years ago after an accident.

 

On the stage, Travis Garland performs a single that I, and probably you, have never heard of. He was discovered by Perez Hilton and although the dancing was pretty cool, I can’t say the song was too impressive.

 

Back to the contestants. Crystal Bowersox is welcomed by all her fans from Toledo, Ohio. The mayor honors her with the key to the city and she gets to spend some time with her son and family at a good, old-fashioned barbeque.

 

The last stop of the day is Chicago, Lee DeWyze’s hometown. He gets to throw the first pitch at the Cubs’ stadium which is a surreal experience in itself. Next, he visits his old elementary school to rediscover his roots. He follows that track and returns to the good ol’ paint store where he spent so many hours working. After the visit home, the camera pans to a shot of the judges and by the look on their faces, it is clear as day they want him to win…and I’m not arguing.

 

And finally, the moment you have all been waiting for. Not the results, there’s still 20 minutes left in the show. It’s Justin Bieber time! He sings “U Smile” and his hit “Baby.” Okay, there are 20-somethings in the audience drooling over a 12 year old. C’mon ladies, get a hold of yourselves! He finishes up with a drum solo and it is actually pretty impressive.

 

Okay, NOW there are 5 minutes left in the show. Time for the results. Although, is there really any question to who is going home tonight?

 

The first person that is heading to the finals is Lee DeWyze! Phew, I can sleep easy tonight! Joining lee in the finale is Crystal Bowersox. For once, America got it right.

 

Casey James closes the night with his rendition of John Mayer’s “Daughters” and shares a sentimental moment with an adorable little girl in the audience (which I can only assume to be a niece or something of the sort!).

 

So who will it be—Lee or Crystal? Tune in next Tuesday at 8/7c on Fox to find out who will be crowned this year’s American Idol.
