"New York City Woman"

 

On tonight's episode of America's Next Top Model the drama builds as the girls divide themselves into two cliques. And a challenging beauty shoot establishes whose in it to win it!

 

The girls have divided themselves into two separate groups- the girls who are strong-willed but also have a dangerous temper (Anslee, Alasia, Angelea and Krista) and the passive girls who try to escape the household drama (Jessica, Raina and Brenda).

 

The girls receive a Tyra mail that reads, "When you walk in you might have a fit." The girls all think that it is either a runway lesson or a go-see. The girls hurry to get ready the next morning. But Alasia is lagging behind causing the girls to arrive late to their lesson and face a very disgruntled Miss J.

 

The girls are at Seventeen's New York office and Editor-in-Chief, Ann Shoket explains that she is going to show them what clothes work best for their body types. The girls get a brief lesson and are given five minutes to have free range of the Seventeen fashion closet to find their perfect outfit. All the girls do well finding the right fit so they all get to keep their outfits.

 

On the ride back to the house in the limo, Jessica complains to Alasia about making them so late. When Alasia interrupts her Jessica politely asks her to let her finish talking. Alasia is not about to let anyone tell her anything no matter how nicely they ask. She goes off on Jessica and a string of curse words later she finally shuts up. But that's not the end of it. Brenda makes a passing comment about how uneducated some of the girls are. Angelea takes this personally and explains (well... shouts at) Brenda telling her all about her college background.

 

Later that night, the girls receive a hand delivered note from socialite Tinsley Mortimor. They are all invited to a party for debut of her new handbag line and will have the opportunity to network with some key industry professionals. The girls all jump in and start making competition, but the girl with the biggest mouth is having the most difficultly taking to new people. Alasia wonders around not knowing what to say to anyone and is too shy to talk to anyone. Really? Since when is she shy?

 

The girls have the opportunity to talk to Tinsley individually and are challenged to show her their knowledge of the fashion industry as well as share their personality and personal style. Some girls do better than others especially on their knowledge of who's who of the fashion industry. But Jay Manuel and Tinsley award Jessica as the winner. She gets to pick two friends to be in a Seventeen Magazine photo shoot with her. She picks Raina and Brenda, her only two allies in the house and they go off to do their personality shoot for Seventeen.

 

The next day the girls travel down to the subway where they will be having their photo shoot. Jay Emanuel explains that they will be transformed into New York City women for a Cover Girl beauty shot. Their hair, make-up and the shoot will be on the subway and they will be challenged to hold a perfect shot on the moving subway car. The girls are transformed into characters including the "fashionista," the "artist" and the "upper east sider."

 

Angelea has her best shoot by far and she is the surprise of the day. Brenda as the "student" is working to look young and fresh, but she still isn't bringing forth that special something in her film. Alasia was just bad. I think she may have gotten the worst critique in Top Model history. Jay flat out told her that he didn't have a picture he could show Tyra. Alasia is devastated. She admits she wasn't really thinking about anything, well it showed.

 

The next day the girls meet with the judges. Some girls they loved, some not so much:

 

Raina "rocker chic" - She looks very powerful, but she lost her neck in her pictures.

 

Krista "aspiring actress"- Her picture looks very much like a Cover Girl ad and she has the fresh look that they are going for.

 

Jessica "club goer"- She looks lost and dazed like someone they don't want to be around. The judges were not impressed by her attitude either. When they told her they didn't like her outfit, she was very defiant.

 

Brenda "student" - The judges didn't see the young fresh face they were looking for. She looks like a manikin. She has no energy behind her face at all.

 

Alasia "model on a go see" - The photo just doesn't work, she looks like she doesn't know what she is doing.

 

Anslee "artist"- She has a very interesting smirk on her face that draws the judges in.

 

Alexandra "upper east sider" - The judges think the picture is her best shot to date and it was an amazing beauty shot.

 

Angelea "fashionista" - The judges go crazy over her shot. She portrayed an amazing confidence and it is the best photo of her they have ever seen.

 

The judges deliberate and Tyra calls back the girls. The judges award Angelea with the best photo of the week. Runner-up is Krista. Tyra then calls Raina, Alexandra, Anslee and Jessica. In the bottom two are Brenda and Alasia. Tyra explains that Brenda lacks the fire and desire that she needs to be a model. She takes good pictures but they  aren't stellar. Alasia threw out the one element that made her an excellent model, her ability to move well.

 

Alasia is called and it is Brenda that goes home. Tyra encourages Brenda to keep modeling and tells her to find her fire.
